The werewolf AU is one I'm fond of, so I'm down to play the manga character to start with! I think a modern city setting works. As a werewolf he might sniff Kadin out but maybe they're both trying to avoid people who want to exploit their powers and end up grudgingly working together? The AU background involves genetic engineering of supernaturally powered beings, so that'd definitely motivate people to look for them.
