November EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be screened and/or deleted. FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL/1-on-1 ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL/1-on-1 section, where you post the canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be screened. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. IN GENERAL: Life in Twin Peaks, especially during his time as a deputy. Maybe Dale ignores all common sense and still buys Dead Dog Farm, and some of the folks from the station stop by to help him get it cleaned up for renovation, and/or Dale manages to luck out and get permission for a field office because of the oddities in the woods, and so starts to undergo the process of actually integrating himself into the community on a deeper, more residential level.
FOR HARRY: I'd love to thread some adventures during Dale's time as a deputy - maybe the probe extends much longer than in did in canon, and he starts to realize he's much happier living in Twin Peaks than anywhere else, which in combination with spending more time working with Harry the prospect of leaving even more difficult for both of them. I've also been thinking about a safehouse sort of scenario based on the line during the Windom Earle arc where Harry tells Coop "I'm not letting you out of my sight" in which he stays over at Harry's instead of continuing to live at the Great Northern, subsequently opening the way to all of your usual adjusting-to-being-housemates stuff. Something centering around the fallout of Dale being shot could be interesting to write as well - either with the canon rib injuries or a situation in which they did not more-or-less catch the bullet and he's instead left with a pretty serious abdominal wound requiring hospitalization. With shipping specifically, I think there's a lot to explore there - Dale would probably keep his feelings to himself as long as he could at the very least during the case, especially because he'd have the wisdom to realize that a relationship between two leading investigators in a case is not a good look, doubly so in light of his allowing Harry to get away with committing assault against another agent of the FBI. I'm also interested in what would happen if they did start dating - Harry's reputation matters a lot, too, considering that he's in a position of power, and seeing as he at least attempted to keep his relationship with Josie a secret, I imagine he and Coop would probably do the same thing. Drama/angst over the seeming eventuality that Cooper will have to leave and go back to the opposite coast at some point, the two of them figuring out how to articulate feelings/dealing with the Catherine Baggage™, the normal motions of dating in an abnormal situation, and just generally getting to know each other better and the evolution of a working partnership into something more are all of interest too. HC/angst during the period of time in which Harry's grieving Josie potentially leading to the development of a relationship between the two of them could also be cool.
FOR ALBERT: Conflict resolution - trying to reason with Albert to maintain some semblance of peace between him and local law enforcement - or maybe dealing with the gunshot wound and the fact that Josie was the one who inflicted it, either shipping or gen. IMHO Albert's clearly very upset about it and expresses that in his own way; it's a pity the show doesn't spend more time looking into his emotional response to what transpires and I'd really dig a thread that does. I think Dale chooses not to acknowledge or think about how serious it easily could have been - had the bullet come at an even slightly different angle, he likely would have been looking at gastrointestinal perforation, possible hypovolemic shock, and/or sepsis as a result of it - whereas Albert, who has medical training, is acutely aware of the fact that this incident could have killed someone very important to him and reacted accordingly.
OTHER CANONMATE-SPECIFIC IDEAS: Bonding with Lucy and his fellow officers! Maybe they all get stuck together in some sort of externally imposed situation like a power outage or snowstorm. I think Coop's particularly fond of Lucy - maybe everyday shenans between these two? Between him and Denise, catching up while she's in Twin Peaks - platonic or perhaps a continuation of the canon UST between them (i.e. the smoldering glance she throws over her shoulder at him before leaving the room when she meets Harry/Hawk, their conversation at the bar in which Denise is holding the bride's bouquet and everyone else is up dancing, etc.).
CROSSCANON: Scenarios in which reinforcements arrive - characters from the CIA, FBI, etc. coming to help with the Laura Palmer investigation and/or the supernatural elements around it. For the X Files specifically, maybe the happenings in Twin Peaks are connected to the conspiracy in the X Files and Dale finds this out when he's put in contact with Mulder/Scully/Skinner. I'm thinking either something in which they're sent out to Twin Peaks or he's sent to their DC Office. Alternatively, threads happening 100% in the TXF universe - maybe Dale's sent to work with them, which could lead to some interesting dynamics.
These are just a few things off the top of my head - I can elaborate and would love to hear any ideas you have!
