The dream begins in a forest. Pine trees surround you on all sides, dark green and so high up you can't even see the tops of them. At first you're laying on your back, feeling every bit like you've been cast into another dream. That's when you feel a sensation begin to pull you across the forest ground. You can't tell if it's by your arms or your legs, and the feeling is disorienting. The forest above you begins to slide past, but no matter how hard you may try, you find that you can't look around, you can't find who or what is dragging you. That's when you hear someone talking. Their voice is impossible to identify: their age, gender, or even if it's one or a couple people talking. The voice carries all around you, and you finally manage to understand what's being said:
"I'm so sorry," the voice says, broken, "But you might be able to help... promise...you won't be gone for long."
That's when you begin to notice something terribly wrong in the dream. You can feel the rocks and ground digging across your back. You can feel the pain of it. Then there's the sound of hooves and before you can think twice about what has approached, a deer is looking down at you.
Deerington is a pan-fandom horror game that takes place in a dreamscape of a fictional town in Maine.
