breathofusir might be a good fit! it's a fantasy AU game with magic and dragons and soul animals for everybody. the plot is that your character died in a war, 100 years have passed, whoops something resurrected your character and brought them back, have fun learning about how the world changed and dealing with the inevitable strange things that happen as a result of that resurrection. there's actually a research mechanic built into the ac rewards—you can request the mods give information about a certain subject/bit of worldbuilding/etc. for your character to use and build upon.

caveat, it's definitely more on the medium/slow side than the medium/fast side and it is a full AU game (which I know is a dealbreaker for a lot of people)
