x-men, doom patrol, cross-canon

[characters]:
Ruth Aldine | X-Men
Laura Kinney | X-Men
Gabby Kinney | X-Men
Rita Farr | Doom Patrol (TV)

[preferences]:
Right now, I'm looking for shippy and/or light-hearted stuff for these characters--I've got a lot of heavy threads going on, so I would love to have a little more levity to balance things out. I've written out some deets on each of these characters, so I'm hoping that'll be helpful:

RUTH ALDINE
tl;dr: An unpopular nerd who sees the future, does psychic stuff, talks with a weird stutter, and likes Watchmen. On the quiet side, but when she opens up, she's got a smart mouth. (Recently, she committed suicide in an issue of Uncanny X-Men, but we can obviously ignore/AU around it, or play from some malleable Other Point, haha.)
Shipping: OTA with a preference for guys ~18-25. She does best with people who're also capital-W Weird, or at least who're willing to put up with weirdness from her. As far as canonical ships go, I'd love to find a David Haller and write Weird Stuff about what's been happening since they were dating.
Other lighthearted stuff: Book clubs, small adventures (come with her to New Jersey, eat fried food), memory sharing, dreamwalking, astral projection strangeness, exploring NYC, trying to figure out what to give Professor Drake for Christmas. And seriously, weird shit--strange, everyday sorts of villains to investigate or fight especially.

LAURA KINNEY
tl;dr: Wolverine's clonedaughter--she's good at stabbing things and bad at understanding what feelings are. Loves spicy food, thrill-seeking, and feeling like she's people. I prefer to play her either around X-Force or around All-New Wolverine, timeline-wise; if you aren't canon-familiar, it's basically a difference of whether you want her feral or functional.
Shipping: OTA with a preference for guys ~18-25. Goes well with patient characters, tbh, and with characters who aren't going to expect her to be someone she's not, especially when she's young and stabby struggling to figure out how to deal with shit everyone else already appears to know, like how to deal with having a crush on somebody. Also with angry people? She knows how to handle anger. As far as canonical ships go, I really like both Julian Keller and time-displaced!Scott Summers for her! The kinds of stuff I'd want to do with a Laura/Warren thread might be on the heavy side for now.
Other lighthearted stuff: The trials and travails of schoolwork or eating a meal that isn't week-old pizza, taking care of someone who's mildly ill, trying something new to her, debating the merits of going to the beach. I'd love stuff with family or friends, especially Logan-Daken-Gabby and the people she's gone to school with but not always stayed connected to on-page, like Cessily.

GABBY KINNEY
tl;dr: The only Wolverine family member who actually enjoys being a Wolverine, haha. Gabby's ~13-14, has an actual wolverine for a pet, and really likes headbands. She's everything her clonesister Laura never got to be--but she's also someone who's Seen Some Shit and isn't afraid to threaten violence or, you know, cut a guy's Achilles tendon where necessary.
Shipping: OTA with a preference for girls her age. I'm interested in "do you like me, check yes or no" kinds of "dating," mixed up with the fact that she 1. is still really unsure about this like-liking stuff 2. is also a (repentant) murderer who gets into horrific amounts of danger sometimes.
Other lighthearted stuff: Friendships! Family adventures! Fighting people without rampant murder! Golden Girls marathons! Gabby is great for textposts especially. And she's great with characters of a variety of ages--her best friend is Deadpool, after all.

RITA FARR
tl;dr: If Norma Desmond could turn into the Blob, you'd get Rita Farr, a woman who might look ~30 but is actually pushing 100 thanks to A Weird Accident that happened back in the 50s. She's prickly and hates change and feels a lot of guilt and shame over her past, but she's slowly becoming a functional adult with a great capacity to care for others. I'm as happy to play her from the early episodes as the later ones, though I'd love to explore where she's at in the final episode of the season!
Shipping: M/F, ideally age 30+--but honestly, Rita's the most difficult one on this list as far as shipping goes. Like a hothouse orchid, she requires reams of patience and precisely the right care and keeping (though flirting, at least, is easy enough!). I'd love to try it, but it would be sloooooooowburn.
Other lighthearted stuff: FRIEND PATROL. Getting snippy and particular about stupid shit, getting into stupid arguments, teacher acquaintances at work, going undercover as a Rita Farr impersonator at a convention, borrowing elements from Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run (or anywhere else, for that matter), strange villains, nonsensical fights, heartfelt conversations, movie marathons?

For all these characters, I'm super into cross-canon as well as canon, and these ideas are just jumping-off points. Please imagine "et cetera" at the end of every list, haha.
