No worries! I was thinking closer to Solo/Rebels timeline anyways and we could go for AU so we don't have to consider all the stuff with Maul that Rebels never explained.

Maybe something basic like Maul just drops Ezra off at the yacht cause he has some important cryptic business and can't deal with him or Qi'ra right now? Or he sends them on a mission?
