I love AoS but I blame no one for not watching it. It may have some of the best story arcs in all of television, but there were some real rough patches in there too, and seven seasons is a lot to get through.
But basically, Team SHIELD pulled Sousa out of 1955 (when Simmons impersonated Peggy and Sousa was not impressed) and he joined them on time travel adventures to save the world from space robots. In the process, he fell for Daisy Johnson, confirming that his type is Strong Women who refuse to ever back down from the good fight.
There are lots of little moments that hint that he never really got closure with Peggy back in his time, from nervously fixing his hair before meeting her imposter to commenting that there are people he'd give a lot to have a few last stolen moments with, so I'd kind of love to give him that in some form. Plus, whatever else we might come up with.
