November EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no banners, no blinking text, no obnoxious tables, no sparklies, no pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be frozen and/or deleted. FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL/1-on-1 ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL/1-on-1 section, where you post the canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. MOD CONTACT: If there's trouble, tell us HERE, please! RESOURCES: DWRP Masterlist - A regularly updated basic list of public DWRP games. [fandom]: Heroic Legend of Arslan ; Epic of Gilgamesh
[rp you're offering for / rp type you'd wanna play in]:
-For Narsus, I'd prefer something political based, as this is the environment he is best suited for. He'd opt out of slice of life to go paint, because that's canon, so it needs to be something involved.
-For Enkidu, I'm happy with action/adventure balanced with some slice of life elements.
[preferences]:
-Interesting plot
-Will consider AU on case by case basis
-Would prefer a fantasy setting but willing to consider sci-fi
-Extremely iffy on smut, disinclined towards sex games unless they tick other boxes
-Extremely iffy on mem loss.
-No need for canonmates.
I am also happy to just do PSLs and memes!

The setting is mostly fantasy-based (little sci-fi, not much), taking place on a continent-sized turtle, plus regular events called landfalls to discover new areas in the world overall. The metaplot is highly malleable and guided by the player's choices, with the focus on characters having real, tangible impact on the events in different ways (there's politics, black market, etc).

Can you tell me a little bit more about the politics? The one thing I struggle with for Narsus is finding something that he'll genuinely want to be involved in, given how much he's "nah, don't feel like it, gonna go paint and be a weirdo in the woods".

Right now the main political tension in the city is that the native people are transitioning from effectively an oligarchy, and trying for a democracy. They've begun to form a governing body, of which player characters are encouraged to get involved with. However the changeover process is contentious, and and there are a few factions of the natives with vastly different ideas of how to proceed with the Foreigners, resulting in an uneasy peace that has the potential to flip rapidly depending on player involvement.
In addition, there are foreign politics to consider, with eight additional continents that are visited as part of the metaplot. These range in positive relations with some countries, all the way to negative enough that they invaded, killed a bunch of people, and swore they'd be back. Best of all, these kind of interactions (both local and international) are 100% impactful by player characters, in fact one of the previous landfalls, a single character stealing from their host city was enough to flip the city's status from positive to neutral.
Basically, players are encouraged to involve their characters as much or as little within this aspect of the metaplot as they want (and frankly, we'd love to have a few more politically-minded characters to keep things from imploding).

Thanks very much, this is really helpful. Narsus would definitely be in his element. I'm curious though, what's the game pace like and how long does it generally take for folks to get involved?

We're on the slower side that occasionally gets up to medium. We're a fairly log-heavy comm, in that most of us do catch-all logs for the month, so it looks like not a lot of new posts, but the catch-alls get new comment threads all the time. If you'er not familiar with the style, our catch-all logs generally look something like this, with a mix of closed and open starters, and usually get added to throughout the month.
Network posts, I'd say we average maybe 2-5 a week, depending on what's going on with events. TS is a game you can definitely step away from for a couple days and not miss a ton, imo.
ICly, characters can get involved as fast as they want to show initiative in doing so! OOCly, we tend to love on new players pretty soundly since we're a small game. Our last new character to join has 200+ replies to their intro network post.
(And since the previous comment asked, we actually have a new Test Drive that went up last week, right here :)

I see. Medium to slow definitely fits better with my current work schedule, so that's good to know. The catch all might be an adjustment, but not too hard of one to adjust to.
Also damn that's a lot of replies.
(Thanks. I'll take a look presently.)
And in absolute seriousness, thank you for answering all of my questions!

Catch-all logs are absolutely not the required style, we just sort of... absorbed it from somewhere. Regular style logs are perfectly fine too.
Yeah, not a problem! If you have any more, you can poke me here or by PM.

Good to know.
I'll do that, and will try to get to the test drive tomorrow after work.
