Kaitheny is pretty darn influential in international trade and scholarship in its own setting, so it often does serve as something of a Lingua Franca, partly because Kaitheny has way more shared borders than most nations and several smaller nations are former Kaithenian territories that broke away during periods of declining Imperial power. Kaitheny is deliberately evocative of both Rome and England during periods of ascendancy, including in terms of cultural influence. That said, there’s a good chance Alric would know at least some Infernal (or whatever her people call their language) as well, since he’s got a Classical Serious Nobleman Education, in case there are any gaps in her Kaithenian.
