FOR GAME ADS:

➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed.

➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad.

FOR GAME QUESTIONS:

➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme.

➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content).

FOR CHARACTER ADS:

➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join.

➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form.

➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences.

➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR.

➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above.

➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game.

I don't think modding is going to be a good fit for you at this time. That's about as direct as I can be about it. A lot of the attitudes you appear to be bringing to this game - or any other game - just don't line up with the community as a whole. Just to take one example: we are, for the most part, adults on this site. So censoring someone swearing is just a very bizarre, nonsensical choice, on top of treating even mild nudity as some sort of trigger (which it may very well be for some people, but coupled with everything else, seems pretty juvenile).

I think it's best to take a step back, observe other mod teams and see how they do things. As it is, right now, no one is going to trust you to mod a game with your name attached. You are doing a lot of weird tl;dr doubling down on even basic questions and that's also a turn-off.

Take a step back, gather your thoughts, and then come back with a better idea with better, clearer rules. Then people might give it a try.

I edited a lot of what I had intended to say here, so I appologize if the resultant response is incomplete. The short (and less self-righteous) version is this:

I know people who have been chased out of new games or not given a chance because their names are on something like WG, or because of something somewhat problematic years ago that they have since realized is problematic and have stopped doing. I know that there are a lot of games out there, and that the community is wide and diverse. But I also know that I have friends who have confided in me that they have anxiety apping new games because they are afraid the mods will judge them based on WG or other second and third hand accounts. If those players can app to a game I run with less anxiety, and prove themselves there that they are not what people say they are, or even not who they used to be... then hopefully they can have less anxiety, and less cause for anxiety, in other games.

I also do not think that a lot of the people with this anxiety are people who have actually hurt anyone with their play. I think that anyone actively malicious will prove themselves out before they get terribly far. Not just in my game, but in any game. But people get reputations in this hobby based on the ship they like (not a shipper myself so that just seems... odd) or daring to be open about their real life struggles online. In some cases it is because they have played a child of a gender not their own and some people got upset about it. I am not looking to shelter people who actively have a will to do harm. We will have strike and ban system in place. But that will be based on actions undertaken while in this game, not based on something heard third hand five years go.

I hope that clarifies my intent, if nothing else.

As to active abusers, someone else had brought that up, and I admit I had not considered that. I had not thought about people who hadn't changed apping specifically to harass or bully someone else. While I can as a mod step in if they do something while in the game, you and the other poster are correct that it could cause problems before it gets to that point. And I don't want someone to be hurt at all. So I do have to consider that and try to figure out the best way to proceed.

Thank you for giving me something to think about, something I do want to resolve before I open this (or any game) to the public. I do want to make any game I run a safe space, and I need to consider that from all angles. Thank you.

I think right now, I'm mostly just looking for self-indulgent shippy stuff for both of these characters. I lean heavily m/f for both of them.

For Ferdinand, honestly, if it fits, it ships. I can take him from any route, and I love all of his supports with Bernadetta, Constance, Dorothea, Edelgard, Flayn, Hilda, Manuela, Marianne, Mercedes, or Petra. I would also gladly play him off of f!Byleth, Ingrid, or Annette (covering almost all the options, I suppose). I'm also totally down to play him against characters from other Fire Emblem games (there are so many good ones to choose from, but I've always liked the idea of Charlotte from Fates having him cluelessly wrapped around her finger) or crosscanon, of course! I'm also down for OT3 shenanigans, including Ferdie/Edelgard/Hubert, Ferdie/Dorothea/Petra (bonus: I have a Petra account), or whatever strikes our fancy.

For Keiichi, predictably, I'd absolutely love a Mion or a Rena in particular. I tend to play him from his college years as we get a glimpse of them in Gou/Sotsu/Meguri. Likewise, I enjoy the idea of the three of them being a packaged set. Do Not Separate. Of course, I'm also open to other characters or crosscanon!

PREFS:

Central Time Zone, availability depends on my schedule. Some days, I'll be boomeranging, but sometimes, I'll be lucky to get any tags in at all. I try to give a heads up if I'm going to be more than a few days though.
It's easiest for me to wrap my brain around brackets, but if we do prose, as long as tag length doesn't go more than a few paragraphs, I can handle it.
I'm down for purely fluff, vanilla smut, or utterly shameless degeneracy.

I appreciate the feedback, and you may be right that I am not ready yet. I have been trying to observe other mod teams, perhaps I still need to observe more. I do freely admit that a lot of my thoughts and ideas come from other RP communities not just this one. And some of those groups allow 13 and up into them. I believe DW does as well (I need to reread the TOS) and I really don't want my game to expose minors to things like that. I also, in full honesty, do not want to expose myself or my mod team to things like that either.

I do not think that you are correct that no one would trust me, however I accept that I may not yet be ready. It is something I do need to consider. I am not trying to be argumentative, and I am sorry if it comes across that way.

But I will take your advice about taking a step back, gathering my thoughts, and clarifying the rules before I attempt anything like this again. Thank you.

Oh, that's grand! I've not kept up on comics, admittedly, but I always thought he was fun. I'm biased toward smart characters though. But if basics and spoilers are fine it shouldn't be much of a problem! Being framed seems pretty apt, considering his discombobulated he can be, maybe there's an edge of worry he really did it anyway. I do like that though! Do you have a place you prefer to play? Speaking as someone who has in the past been the target of unjustified wankgate smears: when I was at my most anxious about that, a scenario where mods were pressuring other people to tag with me would definitely not have made me less anxious. The opposite, if anything.

I can tell you have good intentions but I really don't think this approach would solve the problems you're bringing up here, and making it front and center in terms of your goals for your game seems like a bad idea if you're aiming to get co-mods on board- especially coupled with the reluctance to provide information about the setting and game structure. I think it might be worth approaching this subject with that same level of caution: you could try instead starting from the premise that you want to run a game where you try to make sure people who have felt ostracised will feel welcome, and discussing with co-mods what the best way to make that happen would be.

hello! kdjsfsdjl well this is like everyone under the sun and moon probably but of course i was a sucker for goblin/the great and lonely god. it has all of my favourite tropes. slightly (not really) more recently was the not-so-well-received the king: eternal monarch. i loved it but apparently public acclaim was not...there. mystic beauty pop-up bar was also great. i hugely recommend them :) even if like, not to rp off of or from, just to enjoy! i've started a handful of others but time got away from me T_T as to other genshins, i've got aether (who actually is not in the voice-test city camp; i just find a lot of people aren't interested in writing with traveler ;;), ayaka, and kazuha :)

I can see what you are saying. And taking it in tandem with other advice, I think I am going to step back for a while and reaccess. I have been given a lot to think about and when/if I run a game - this game or others - I want them to be places where people feel safe and have fun. It seems like my approach to that was skewed with this attempt, so I need to figure out how to take the very legitimate concerns that have been voiced here into account to improve the situation so that all involved can have the best possible time.

If you want to create a small game where your nervous friends can play and thrive, why not open up a private game for just them? It would be small enough to manage, they wouldn't have to worry about applications, and you'd be able to treat it more like an in-person RP experience. Invite your friends into your digital basement and treat them to some pizza.

Thank you for the recommendation. I actually get this one recommended a lot for Aqua. Unfortunately I m not comfortable with a game that requires so much IC physical contact. SEEKING:

Beidou - Would love a Ganyu, Ningguang, or Kazuha. Cross-canon is good, especially for Fire Emblem or similar anime flavored fantasy settings. Adventure scenarios, Beidou and her crew being recruited by a faction to participate in a big battle, or just chill scenarios like Beidou and her crew making port in a new city and they get to explore and meet new people. AUs are good too! A modern or sci-fi AU where she's a pirate/smuggler with a crew working under her, or some sort of crime boss who's actually good.
Jean Gunnhildr - Would love a Lisa or Barbara. Cross-canon and AUs are good. A modern or cyberpunk AU with Jean as a police officer sounds cool. Adventure scenarios with Jean teaming up with others, or chill scenarios where she gets to stop working too much sound wonderful, maybe bond with her sister Barbara more or go on trips with Lisa.
Yae Miko - Would love an Ei, Sara, or Ganyu. Cross-canon and AUs would be interesting, especially if she gets to meet other characters from similar fantasy versions of feudal Japan, like Hoshido from Fire Emblem Fates. AU of Yae in modern urban fantasy Japan but with yokai sounds fun, and a scenario where she and another character work to create the next bestseller light novel from looking for inspiration, to attending conventions.
Ganyu - Would love a Keqing or Shenhe, but Beidou, Ningguang, or Yelan sounds good too. Less interested in cross-canon with her but I'm still open to it, but I'm as into a modern urban fantasy AU with her like Ganyu being an office lady in modern China or something. Getting her to relax by taking her on trips or helping her unwind sound cute as hell.
Troy Dantes - I joke about Troy essentially being a Filipino Steve Rogers/Captain America, because it's sort of accurate lol. They're both righteous men working as supersoldiers, but Troy's more extroverted and is pretty promiscuous in his downtime, so smut comes really easy for him. But I'm open to adventure and battles with him being a leader, and especially love having his high-tech self interact with magical fantasy worlds. Like helping a medieval-level society in a battle, or sharing his advanced technology with them. More relaxed or shippy scenarios with him and a partner, enjoying a break in between missions or getting him to relax because he's so married to his job. Can play him in a polyship with your character + my other OCs if you're interested in that. I also have a teenage alternate account (kublan) for him if you prefer to tag someone in a similar age to your teen.
Sofia Sinclair - She's very much like Beidou above, with a touch of Iron Man I guess. The similarities between them are uncanny lol. Anyway, Sofia is Troy's best friend and coworker, so they're both high-tech supersoldiers. Adventure is in her soul, so having Sofia explore new worlds and planets comes easy for her. She can recruit you into her space crew, help out in a mission, or get to see your character's world if you want to play them being a tour guide to a quirky space lady. She does go to other planets and try to blend in - like a medieval-level fantasy society like the Fire Emblem worlds, Genshin's Teyvat, or an advanced society like the Star Wars galaxy or the Guardians of the Galaxy side of things in the MCU. For shipping, I really enjoy her with smaller characters (she's 6'0" tall). She can also be in a polyship with your character + my other OCs if that interest you, but a casual FWB relationship also works for her. I also have a teenage alternate account (athlon) for her if you prefer to tag someone in a similar age to your teen.

NOTES:

PST timezone, I try to tag at least once a day or a few times a day. I'm more consistent and haven't dropped a thread in a long time, even if I'm still a little slow to reply. Backtagging is fine with me, and can still keep a thread going again even if it's so old like months old, if you're still interested in keeping it going. But I'm also fine with just starting a new thread if the previous one didn't work out but you still want the CR.
I can be easily found on memes with both OCs, and that's where I'm usually more down to play. Museboxes are fine and doable too if you prefer a slower pace or more private.
I don't mind cross-medium, but my characters just tend to stylistically and tonally mix with anime-styled or video game-styled media. Live-action adaptations of comics or games can work better than other live-action canons.

yogen? i think you were there early on but couldn't maintain it, but i think it might be up your alley more now - the game's moved away from the murder aspect to focus more on plot and the underlying themes of morality, memories, etc, and then an emphasis on characters being able to solve the mysteries and effect the setting, so i think it's a lot easier to get into now.
