FOR GAME ADS:

➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed.

➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad.

FOR GAME QUESTIONS:

➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme.

➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content).

FOR CHARACTER ADS:

➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join.

➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form.

➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences.

➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR.

➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above.

➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game.

IN GENERAL:

➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened.

Hi! I’m here to suggest Victory Road - we’ve got a large FE3H cast (a lot of Lions but also Claude, Lorenz, and Hubert, and a potential Caspar and Linhardt pair) and it’s Pokemon, so the game has a PG13 rating. No memloss, power stripping is there, we’ve got lots of OCs, and the pace is pretty casual and events are all optional. AC isn’t bad because network and inbox posts all count just as well as logs. I can send you a link if you want!

In dub it's likely in America. (It might be in America in sub too, but I have it as near Domino City because it seemed to be under the jurisdiction of the Domino police force.)

hello, chicklet. no, we do not know each other, and as other anons have told you already (and I think you already knew), 'da' is just a header used in anoncomms, not a handle

i do hope that the many responses you have received over the past few days has educated you to the reality that, even if you do not see this sort of premise as treating players like children, that is how most of us will still take the idea of a game that so heavily restricts character behavior. as someone else here i believe already told you also, most of us in this hobby are adults or young adults. building a game specifically to avoid triggers is on its face a good goal, but when the triggers are this many and this common, again I think the market for it is going to be very limited if not nonexistent altogether

as to your efforts to recruit mods, speaking as a person who has known other would-be mods in your current position and been offered modship by them... it is easy to offer someone support on plurk. even if one thinks an idea is bad, is costs nothing to be polite, offer a few kind words of support and beg off any actual effort in the process. i can't say for sure if that is what is going on in your case, but I can say that none of my three friends who tried to make games happen like you are doing now got their games off the ground. they were each what I personally call 'vision mods', that is to say would-be mods that had aq vision for a game but no ability to organize and no head for the actual work of modding. you need a person like that, a 'work mod'. without that your game will not happen. and your vision as presented here is so restrictive that no work mod will find it appealing

i can understand wanting to make a game where canon OCs and CRAUs are welcome from the position of a person who enjoys those types of characters. but you in turn should try to understand why they are such an ostracized character type in the first place, and why so few games allow them. just about everyone in dwrp remembers 'renne', an infamous canon OC player from the late lj/early dw days who carried all their CR from every game into the next one and burdened players who did not know them with an OC who claimed interactions they had never participated in or necessarily wanted to. renne is the most infamous case, but there have been many canon OCs and CRAUs who played their characters in this pushy, force-CR-onto-others style. they are why the character type is largely persona non grata today, and by admitting them you are giving prospective players another reason to avoid your game

do you understand fully what I am saying about the problems with this game? you are trying to build a game around multiple problematic elements at once: offering second chances to players with bad reps (1), welcoming canon OCs and CRAUs when your players might not necessarily want that CR (2), and the heavily restrictive G-rated premise that prohibits elements most players have been comfortable with since they graduated from elementary school (3). just trying to make a game focused on one of these elements wouldn't be such a challenge, but all of them at once creates a premise that, to coin a phrase, has a little something to alienate everyone

i do apologize for sounding like a debbie downer here, i'm not trying to discourage you, just to tell you what kind of uphill battle you are facing. by walking back some of the more extreme restrictions you have proposed here and picking just one problematic element to try and rehabilitate, i do think you'll have a much greater chance of success. if you refuse to do that, then all i can say is best of luck to you.

The Black Stallion series is mostly about Alec befriending a wild black stallion and making a racehorse out of him, but there are also shipwrecks, mysteries, murder attempts, plane crashes, Haitian goddesses in the Everglades, aliens (no I'm not kidding), and the apocalypse. It's a wild ride.

SO a little mystery-solving via Nancy Drew may, in fact, constitute as a nice break for Alec. XD He's generally found in New York, but since horse racing is popular around the country, anywhere you'd like to set a mystery is cool. Alec is a helpful sort of young man, it won't take much to have him fall in with Nancy and assist her in whatever, especially if it involves horses in any form.

The other dude I could offer is this guy, Kamizuki Izumo from Naruto, which is sort of a fantasy series but I can AU him in, he's a ninja. So ninja plus super-sleuth could be interesting? He'd be very tempted to flirt with the pretty redhead, tho, and Nancy probably won't take well to that....

Hello, sorry for the delay in the reply, the last two days have been a lot IRL and I did not want to dive into my inbox until I could give replies the thought and respect they - and their posters - deserve. That said, here we go.

As I have replied to other posters, I had not thought about people who were actively seeking to harm others. Now or in the past. As I have said in other messages, I clearly need to consider that, now that it has been brought to my attention. I was thinking about people who used to post things that just made others uncomfortable, or used to have foul language issues or anger issues that have since grown up and gotten better at socializing. I may have been naive. I probably was. But blind spots like that are exactly why I am looking for co-mods. Or was. As I have also said previously, I am stepping back to consider all the feedback I have been given; so that if and when I do try this again it is with more preparation and more of an idea how to make this a safe space for all who come with an honest desire to do no harm. I want to believe the best in people. I want to believe that all people can grow and change. I am sure most, if not all of us, have done things in the past that we regret. Hurt people that we never would have hurt now; but I again, was thinking of unintentional harm. Harm caused by, at worst, a lack of consideration for others.

Again, however, the intention was never to force people to choose between drop or interact. I have stated over and over that giving a second chance would be encouraged, but other than among the mod team, no more than encouraged. Opt outs will be allowable, and I would want players to feel that the mod team is approachable.

Now, as I said, I had not factored in intentional harm. And I am considering that now. So I appologize if my unintended negligence caused anyone to feel hurt or stressed. That was never my intention. I want to help the people around me to find reasons to smile, and have never meant to distress anyone. So if I have upset you - you being the person who replied, or just anyone reading this - I am deeply and truly sorry. I am taking what has been said to heart and working on trying to do better. And trying to figure out how to handle the very valid concern over abusers that I had previously overlooked.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. Given how you seem to feel about me and what you perceive my attitude to me, it would have been easy to close the thread in disgust and never give it another thought. But you took the time and effort to reply and let me know how I came across. And I appreciate it, even if the words hurt to read. They didn't hurt because they were mean, but they hurt because I became aware that I could have hurt others. That I could have given someone with PTSD or anxiety over a previous incident reason to feel worse, not better. As I said, that was never my intent. And again, my deepest apologies go out to any who have had to deal with that.

As to what goes too far, for most of your examples it really comes down to details, and I had planned to work with my mod team to figure out how to write up the explanation in a concise way that wouldn't just be a wall of text. I do not feel that at the current time trying to separate those into nitpicky lines is of value since as I have said previously, I am stepping back to consider all the helpful feedback that I have been given, and am not proceeding at this time. Also because everyone on the mod team, should there ever be one, would have a say. The lines I would draw as me, here and now might not reflect the finalized rules of the game, should I ever run it. I have oft been accused of arguing fiddly details while ignoring the larger picture. I am trying to be better about that. Which is why I started to address each example you gave in longwinded detail but stopped myself. If you really want to know for the sake of knowing where my lines would be if I had the only say... I can write that up for you, but I am not sure it would in any way help you, and I do not want to waste your time if you are uninterested in it as an academic/theoretical exercise.

As to the other point, yes, seriously, cursing. I have a filter on, so I cannot tell if you actually cursed or if you censored it yourself. If you actually cursed I would thank you in advance to not expand upon that or make clear what words you had used. It was suggested to me, not in this thread but by someone following along, that I could perhaps ease the cursing restriction somewhat by making available links to add-ons and extensions like the one I use to block cursing on my screen. And I am giving that serious consideration. It is an imperfect solution as checking your tags from anywhere other than your usual computer would lack that protection for those who want it. However, it may wind up as the happy medium when things shake out. As I said, I am giving the matter serious thought.

You say that you are saying this again, but given anon, I am not certain which person you are, so I do not know what replies I have already said to you, or that you may have seen elsewhere, so I ask for your forgiveness in advance for any potential repetitiveness.

As I have said in other replies, some of which may have been to you, I was not thinking of people who actively and intentionally sought to do harm. It has been brought up multiple times in this thread and I am giving it now the serious consideration that it deserves. I may have been - probably was - naive. And I'll own that. When I said that, I had been thinking about people who had RPed something that had made someone uncomfortable unintentionally; someone who had once laced every post with profanity; or maybe even someone who used to type everything in text speak that made it hard to understand them.

When I speak of second chances and people growing up, I am talking about people who have done just that. Grown up. We all live and are affected by our lives, changed by them. Everything we do and see and hear and read has the potential to impact us. I know I have learned a lot by going through this process, and seeing things - like this issue - that I have not considered before.

When it comes to the issue of abusers - past and present - that issue is so much larger than any one game, even than this community. I can't say "now that this has been brought to my attention here is my plan for that" I can't. I can't say I have an answer... because I don't. What I have now is a reminder that this is a thing I need to consider, and consider seriously, because it is a serious issue.

I never intended to shame anyone at any point. Nor to force anyone to do things that make them feel unsafe. All along I have been saying that my intent has been to make a game that would feel safe and welcoming. For everybody. Again, perhaps that is naive. But I am unsure how exactly you drew from my not thinking about abusers in this circumstance to seeing me as supporting them. It was an oversight, and a devastating one that I regret. If I have caused anyone pain in this endeavor, if I have reopened any wounds or trauma I am deeply and intensely sorry. That had never been my intent.

Should I ever actually create any game in the future - this one or others - making people feel safe and welcomed is always going to be a top priority. Perhaps THE top priority.

This is a serious issue and I have been giving it serious thought, and will continue to do so. Should I move forward with this or any other game in the future, it will have to be a discussion with the mod team, not a decision made by any one person.

Issues like this, major crucial things I may have missed are one of the biggest reasons that I wanted a mod team in the first place. I know I am fallible, that I have blind spots. We all do. It is part of why working in a team is such a wonderful thing. Because we can watch each other's backs, pick up on what each other missed.

This community has replied to me with a number of things that I missed, and even if this game ever happens, I have learned a lot and hopefully can use what I have learned to b a better friend and stronger ally in the future.

Let me say once again, to anyone and everyone reading this: If I have hurt or offended you in any way shape or form with anything I have said or done, I am sorry. That was never my intent, and I am sorry that I caused you to feel that.
