November EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." my kingdom for a Yusei so I can finally app Jack[game info]: Penance is a sex-friendly game set in Hell. Characters are sentenced to death, condemned to Lucifer's realm, and forced to atone for their sins (or sin even more). Events run monthly and are horror-centric, along with an integrated TDM and an overarching metaplot. There's a ton of freedom to develop your character however you choose, and to corrupt your character as much as you like. The setting encourages debauchery and pushing characters to their limits, be it through mindfuckery, body horror, or plain ol' torture.
And yes, you absolutely can turn your character into a demon. Sinning is winning, as we like to say around here.
Penance is a great fit for villains, scoundrels, as well as people seeking a game with more relaxed AC, which is just eight comments a month. Our reserves and TDM will open on the 24th and our apps open on December 1st. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask!*

[game info]: Come Sail Away is a panfandom jamjar RP, blah blah blah, please enjoy our ad for further information on the game in general. What you need to know: sail is a fast-paced jamjar with no network, meaning interactions are primarily done face to face (or over the in-game phones, which are handled through inboxes on individual journals).
As far as Sharky and Pratt go: they've bonded over their shared trauma; post-Collapse Sharky feels responsible for ensuring at least ONE deputy makes it past the cult's brainwashing, while Pratt continues to struggle with his own identity and what "making it" actually entails. They text each other constantly, and spend most of their time gossiping about romance on the ship. They are the definition of broing out and ho downing, and have built up a considerable group of friends by being both weird, and weirdly normal compared to the JRPG characters running around. (1st visual reference, 2nd visual reference and an obligatory 3rd reference)
Pratt is currently preparing to burn a regained copy of Jacob's jacket, marking a positive turning point for him after months of teetering on the edge of collapse. Boy, it sure would be awkward if Jacob showed up right after that, huh??
Sharky learned a valuable existential lesson during October: it turns out that his body is just a meat suit that can be piloted by just about anybody! His sense of self is all sorts of skewed, but one thing's still clear: fuck them peggies!!
ha ha j/k unlessCR CHALLENGE: Pratt and Sharky have made a point to talk maaaaaad shit about the Seeds, and have physically described Jacob to several people with the caveat of "it's on sight, motherfucker." Anyone who wants to app in a Seed is going to get some negative CR right off the bat. The game, however, LOVES villains, and you will NOT be limited by Sharky and Pratt's vendetta. There's a redemption theme throughout the game, which means there are plenty of sympathetic characters to talk to. Even if you don't want to reform your nasty cultist, there are enough morally gray characters to ensure they make plenty of friends :)
GAME CHALLENGE: The game moves quick. Everyone will gladly help you get up to speed on whatever's happening, but we might also just be popping off at random and you'll wake up like "wait, when did Pratt get his finger cut off???" AC is easy in my opinion, but some people struggle to meet it. (1 open post + a thread with at least 10 comments from your character, or 3 threads of that length in lieu of a post) The OOC community uses Discord a lot. Most of us have plurks as well; the Pratt player uses plurk a lot, but I personally tend to prefer Discord. (You can mute literally all the channels but the most game-relevant ones, and we're trying to make more use of threads to keep chatter to a manageable level.)
REASONS TO APP: Sails is really fuckin fun, guys. Cross-fandom/media interaction is at an all-time high, so you'll never want for threads. The players are extremely friendly, and most of them are very open to back-tagging, hand-waving, and plotting out things with literally everybody. Your characters can directly affect the plot; a pair of gods apped in, and in their first month, they indirectly saved an NPC's life just by roasting a pig in her honor! Pratt argued about lootbox mechanics with the Captain!

The Voltron cast has had a long tenure in the setting, three of whom have been in game for 3-4 years starting in the game's predecessor: Deerington (Deer Country is a sequel game and knowledge of Deerington is NOT required to understand or get invested in it!), technically making them CRAU. There is a lot history that's impossible to succinctly sum up but rife with potential for unique and fun interactions with new and fresh-faced castmates feel free to comment/PM if you have any questions at all!
The overall pace is a steady Medium with monthly events and newsletters, as well as TDMs that go up on the 25th/26th of every month (view the TDM Tag for the latest post!). AC is 2 proofs of either 10 network comments or 5 log comments. Backtags are accepted for one proof and both proofs can be met using multiple threads so long as there is a minimum of 3 comments from you. Overall a very flexible and easy system!

I just thought I'd ask T.T[game info]: Annexed takes place in a world of science, magic and a blending between. Characters have been brought in by a race known as the Sylphid, intended to be assimilated so that the Sylphid can thrive, but rescued by a rebel group known as the Witches who seek to restore this broken world and free it and other potential victims from Sylphid control. Incoming characters are all aligned to one of two planets that make up the Broken World, which while gaining them new powers and abilities also requires them to form bonds with those of the opposite to maintain a balance. [wanted]: Harry Osborn, Tony Stark and May Parker are all at the top of the list for the Spider-Man cast! Any other Peters would also be delightful. As for Steven, Marc and Layla always welcome! Or Khonshu; should be fun to put him through the wringer as a human being for a month before going monster. But really, any Marvels are always lovely.
[game info]: Monsters! Horror! Shenanigans! We've got it all! Ryslig's been around for yeeears and it's still going strong. Most of the folks in this cast are relatively new to the game though, so you won't be joining a team of Ryslig veterans. We all like to clown with a fair balance of drama and comedy, so we can provide good laughs and strong emotions.
Applications have been delayed for a month, to adjust the game's pacing and make it more balanced. Because of this, the September/October Test Drive Meme is the latest one and you're still allowed to use it for November. A fresh Test Drive will go up on December 11th, with applications re-opening December 24th.

[game info]: Penance is a horror game set in Hell. The main theme is on redemption versus corruption, and prompts frequently deal with some of all seven sins (which includes lust, so yeah, game is sex-friendly and characters must be 16+). Characters are told that they are here to repent for their sins, which can range from serious crimes to arbitrary misbehaviors. From there on you can focus on them genuinely trying to repent (with the promise of eventually going home), or embracing their sins and going native (10000 sins sound better than 10, even if it comes with a new set of demon horns, doesn't it?)
There are monthly events, usually dealing with horror, torture, sinning and some more lighthearted options, and the TDM is considered game canon. There is also a loose overarching metaplot dealing with the balance of power between God, Lucifer and other rulers of Hell. AC is easy with a minimum of just 8 comments required a month.

[game info]: Deer Country is a character-driven, horror-focused panfandom game that takes place in the strange city known as Trench. Blood has huge importance in this world and every character that comes into the game has been changed, not only are they technically a squid, but they're given a new bloodtype that can grant them fantastic abilities while also affecting them in various ways every single month (the effects vary every month, from something as simple as being easily irritated to dealing with severe memory loss or out of control powers).
Each month, you have at least six different event prompts that you can plot around, three from the TDM that happens at the tail end of each month, and three that belong to the main event log. Each event touches upon a variety of horror and they're always accompanied by content warnings so you're never caught off guard (eg: July & June).
The game speed can vary but it's usually medium-paced with a lot of wiggle room depending on your own tagging speed and most people are very open to backtagging into infinity. AC is fairly easy (2 proofs, either 10 network or 5 log comments, or a single proof of an open top-level/post/log that reaches 20 network or 10 log) and there are 3 AC free months (December, April, & August) and your first month is a check-in only.

[game info]: Folkmore is an invite-only mostly fantasy game (I have an invite a month though, and so does everyone else, js). Characters follow a magical fox who thinks they have "potential" to Folkmore, a fantasy setting where everyone gets assigned a role: Legend (mostly the Good GuysTM), Myth (mostly the Bad GuysTM, and Familiar (supporters or others who don't fit the other two roles). Eren is a Myth, Levi is a Familiar, and Erwin is a Legend, so we got the whole spectrum. Your characters can take on animal or other creature features. (I didn't give Eren any, he's just a monster at heart.) This game also accepts CRAUs and is headcanon friendly. There are monthly events and a large part of the game focuses on interpersonal connection and makes characters deal with what is "good" or "bad." October TDM is here.
