Well, powers are taken away when you join, so Ranma could get stuck in one of his two forms and have to roll with it. I know there will be some way to gain 'some' powers but I have no idea what it means for now.
Hot water is probably a luxury, though, I can imagine Erich dreaming of a shower at the moment. All he can do is melting snow and wash little patches of his skin with it. One at the time. Making sure he doesn't get a cold because BOI temperatures are low around there.

The first time he'll see any Amy/Shadow/Silver/whatever, aka a fellow hedgehog, it'll be a cultural shock for him.
