October EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. aka: characters fall into a fantasy style world after being asked to make a wish and being told it will come true if they live in said fantasy style world, which is run by a eccentric wizard who looks like David Bowie at the end of a mysterious Labyrinth. Events to dive into this Labyrinth are run pretty frequently, and parties of 2-4 characters get randomized rooms to explore! The vibe is largely whimsical and fun, with occasional light horror.
Labyrinthum's monthly events alternate between relaxed events (recent example: finding dragon eggs to raise dragon babies, and a festival to celebrate that, mysterious crystal-filled grottos opening up) and intense events (recent examples: local gelflings brainwash the player characters into playing parts in a circus, DnD taking over Somnius and a whole Dungeon to explore complete with loot, mysterious hauntings taking over half the town). The recent October event has come with NPC-given gifts from trick or treating, and characters have gotten everything from homing friendship bracelets, to healing plants, to Cheshire kittens, to rocks that annoy you with stupid phrases!
The current TDM is here, and there'll be a new TDM on November 1st, with applications opening not long after. It's a very relaxed group, and all the players are super welcoming!

that's the premise, but the plot has yet to really kick into gear; the mods are going with a slowburn for the game, but the events we've gotten have really focused on character introspection and relationship building both on our lighter months and our heavier ones! the whole playerbase is really good about tagging out and being consistent, and some of my favorite CR has been surprising cross-canons -- there is a little bit of everything for everyone! really though, everyone in the game has been able to do their own thing and they've made it a pretty worthwhile experience... it's just that if you're looking for something a little more plot-focused, this isn't going to give you want you want.
while our applications are closed for this month, the october TDM is still available to play on for examples next month's app cycle, and the TDM for that round'll be posted on the 1st of november as well! in addition to our small limco cast we've got a whole lot of projmoon in laws with a good handful of ruinas!!! they're awesome, i love them, feel free to check out the city and drop in to say hello if you'd like to see if this low stakes game with some hella easy AC is a fit for you

It’s a slow burn liminal horror, we have a spooky city that keeps doing weird things like locking characters into a bank vault to talk about their secrets or compelling them to drink poisoned tea.
Events are plot one month and CR focussed the next, the AC isn’t hard to make and it’s all pretty relaxed!
I’m having particular fun with Stranger Things here because creeping dread is perfect to build tension in characters who have a yearly monster attack happen.
There are some really good opportunities for cross-canon and the playerbase is largely made up of fantastic people who are great at creating fun during event downtime.

Songerein is a pan-fandom game with a laidback atmosphere that takes place in a dream world with strong fantasy vibes that gives you the flexibility of exploring slice-of-life themes, exploring character emotions (and receiving practical benefits from doing so) or getting into plot events that pop up regularly. Because it’s set in a dream world, you can let your imagination go nuts when you feel like it, and it’s all part of the game mechanics, so player-led imaginative endeavors are encouraged.
“But what if I’m not feeling like engaging in plot?”, you ask. That’s cool, because you're encouraged to build on character interactions and development and events are easy to opt out of. The game isn’t heavily plot focused, so if you’d rather dip your toes into an event one month and sit out the next, that’s doable.
“FF16 has some pretty powerful characters, do I get to keep those powers?” To a reasonable degree, yup! There’s no complete power nerfing in the game, so you can still play around with magical abilities that aren’t completely game breaking, and there’s flexibility when it comes to powers in dreams. The mods have been accommodating with the crazy kaiju shenanigans that come with FF16 Dominants and I’m personally happy with Joshua’s current arrangements.
“I’m not crazy about big games.” That's understandable. Songerein boasts a cozy and friendly 90 player cap, and is currently hovering at around 70-ish. The 10 character cast cap also ensures that no one canon completely dominates the game. It’s been great for cross-canon interactions, and it keeps the pace of the game manageable without getting slow.

Characters are designated either Dominant or Submissive when they arrive and those roles come with strict societal expectations, including the need to sign a contract with someone of the opposite designation. They also have to fill a monthly sex quota as part of the "science" experiment that brought them there.

MetaHeroes is based on superhero comics of all kinds. There is no minimum AC; instead, players update with monthly check-ins summarizing what their characters have been up to. Mods post monthly arrival logs and bimonthly event logs, and player plots are encouraged. MH is invite-only, so if you're having fun on the TDM, reach out to a player and see if they have an invite available!

basically, it's a slowburn horror game with a focus on both plot and cr building! currently it's mostly slice of life with a bit of survival thrown in. there's been a lot of spooky things happening, and the events are interactive, fun, and alternate between plot-based and cr-based. the ac is very reasonable and easy to get, and overall the players are all very kind, friendly and willing to plot with anyone.
reno and aerith come from vastly different canon points (acc and remake) and we would love to have more ff7s around to have even more fun! apps are currently closed but the october TDM will run all month, and apps will be open again in november.

[game info]: The FAQ and Info is here but in a nutshell, this Non-Carnival cruise ship is fueled by Suffering and run by an Entity that's spiteful and lonely, but also [slaps the roof of the Serena Eterna] You can fit SO MUCH LOVE into this bad boy. After the paradigm shift of the game, a lot of the cabins sit empty or the people in them are bunking alone, and we would love to inject some new blood into the game. The voyage isn't over yet, after all! CRAU and OCs are not only welcomed, but loved so very, very much. Just know that the game is pretty consistently fast-paced and a lot can happen on a few different fronts, be they mod-run or player-run, but AC is pretty easy if you can keep up on a toplvl post and one extra thread besides, and anything beyond that is rewarded. We're pretty lenient about missing things and hiatuses can be loose and long if you need them. We all get that life happens!
A note: a lot of ooc planning, discussion, and general Get-To-Know-You happens on the Sail discord server, so unfortunately if you're not really into discord you may miss some things. We do our best to keep everyone in the loop, and people are welcome to come and go as their comfort level dictates, but the reality is that we do a lot of plotting via the discord, and to a lesser extent, the plurk.

[game info]: Duplicity is a sex game that revolves around kinks and character's reactions. You're either a Dominant or a Submissive (although there are events where it can change, so if you want to switch you designation, it will likely come up again at some point). There are quotas and contracts, but a/c can just be regular interactions from a variety of different sources (network post, open log, comments, tdm replies). There are monthly events that go on, plus regular interactions of trying to navigate the dynamics of the game.

You can still tag the current one, but you would need to post to the new one if you want to keep a designation (or you can just tdm and wildcard by answering the question in the app).

For this can be said of people in general: that they are ungrateful, fickle, hypocrites and dissemblers, avoiders of dangers, greedy for gain; and while you benefit them, they are entirely yours. Offering you their blood, their goods, their life, their children... when need is far off, but when you actually become needy, they turn away.
The lights flicker, and you're alone in a room with no recollection of how you got there. Two shut doors stand in front of you; "left" is painted at the center in red on one door and "right" on the door beside it. Below each word, in the same red paint, is a different passage. Once you've read both, the locks will click open, and you may choose one: Left or Right.

Welcome to the city of Duplicity, population three million and growing. Split horizontally through the middle, half of Duplicity's residents live in towering skyscrapers of glass and metal and the others below the ground in a squalid, subterranean city crumbling to decay before their very eyes. Depending on the chosen door, left or right, you'll come out into one of these two sides. The former lacks for nothing, and the latter wants for everything. Society functions on a Dominant and Submissive rule. You are one or the other.
Welcomed equally by the people behind the doors, you'll be given matching accommodations and the same information:
LIEs, a program created a few decades ago to bring in new people, has been largely unsuccessful. The creator of the program was given the task of finding alternate humans that did not carry the deceit gene and bring them to Duplicity to make the city better. People keep arriving, but these alternate humans have yet to be found. Not to be discouraged, the creator put the program on auto-pilot and vanished, leaving the doors to reset every month and new arrivals to come in.
The creator has since returned and taken control of the city but has allowed the program to continue on auto-pilot for the time being.
DUPLICITY is a panfandom dystopian sex game that centers around negative traits, power imbalances, and the outcome of succumbing to darker urges. Bad behavior is encouraged; events will touch on kink, horror, science fiction, game plot, and slice of life tossed in when needed.
