June EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no fonts and other html that make ads super long, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canon in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ There is a "Pairings You Want to Play" section, where you can ask for castmates or crosscanon you'd like to ship with. Please format this with "[YOUR CANON] seeking [CASTMATE/OTHER CANON (if crosscanon)/SEE DESCRIPTION (if a general character type)]. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Pairings You Want to Play" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. Alongside castmates and crosscanon, you can choose to ask for OCs or general character types as well. Try not to get too wordy and please don't outline entire scenarios. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. [why]: for charles and edwin i'm interested in canon-adjacent aus (soulmarks, daemons) as well as just generally playing cases from before they went to port townsend, digging into each of their backstories more, fleshing out the elements the show didn't have time to focus on (what was edwin's relationship with his family? did either of them have siblings? how did they each do in school? that kind of thing). i'm not big on aus that entirely deviate from canon like coffee shop or high school aus, but aus that build on canon are totally my jam, so i'll entertain those all day!
for the cat king, i'm interested most in edwin exploring his sexuality and enjoying being desired. i don't read their relationship as romantic from his side, but he's very definitely attracted to the cat king and now that he's accepted that about himself i'm very keen to have him explore sexuality with someone he can feel reasonably comfortable and low-stakes about it with, as opposed to the best friend he's been unwittingly pining for for thirty years.

Baldur's Gate 3 - Haarlep seeking Raphael

[why]: I think there's a lot to unpack with these two that provides good opportunities to explore them as characters while exploring their relationship together. I see them as running the gamut from almost caring, tender moments to sometimes wanting to strangle each other (or possibly a little of both at the same time), and I'm here for all of it. While I'd love to write some smut between them, I'm happy to focus on the non-sexual aspects of their relationship as well.
[game/psl info]: Working within canon, doing some canon divergence or going completely AU are all good with me. Let's have a sweet bathing scene where Haarlep is just showing Raphael some care. What if Haarlep had chosen to be with him rather than being given by Mephistopheles? What might their lives look like in a modern setting? Any kind of setting or scenario you can think of is one I'm probably down to try.

[why]: I'm interested in some post-canon NWH shenanigans where the characters find each other again, or anything before hand if you have a big idea for it. I'm game for nearly anything really. I've never played Ned/Peter before, so I'm definitely curious about how they would work as a couple. 'Inter-webs' is a cute pairing I've seen around, thus I'm curious.

(Final Fantasy) Sephiroth seeking Zenos & Zack
[who I play]: Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)
[wanted]: Zenos yae Galvus (FFXIV) and Zack Fair (FFVII)
[why]: For Zenos, I have a powerful need to play out mutually obsessed enemies-to-lovers. I think they could easily match each others' freak, and I long for a chance to play it out lmao. They make really interesting parallels for each other in a lot of ways, and I think I'm really fond of this idea that neither of them ever really had an equal in combat until they met their respective protags. And them finding that in each other and escalating it to equal fascination/obsession would be a really fun thing to explore. I'm also curious where it would go after that. I'm quite appealed by this idea of Sephiroth becoming a fallen hero because of Zenos. Forsaking everything he knew in exchange for being understood and finally having an equal. And then where would it go from there? What motivations might they have once they're together? Yes, yes. (steepled fingers)
For Zack, I've just always really wanted a proper chance to play this ship out. I adore their interactions in Crisis Core and the way Sephiroth seems to grow softer and smile more whenever Zack is around. And those Rebirth prologue interactions? LORDT. Sephiroth clearly adores him. (Who doesn't?) And in conjunction with me having so many Ever Crisis feelings as of late, I'd really like to explore the idea of Sephiroth getting to experience some normalcy with Zack. I've always wanted to play out a Gold Saucer date so bad! That being said, there's definitely some room for angst and other forms of delicious drama/conflict if that's your cup of tea, and I'm always down for mutual pining or one-sided feelings. Also, I'm still bitter about their interaction at the church in Rebirth, because I wanted so much more. U g h. Very interested in giving them more of a fleshed out Rebirth-esque interaction, even better if they're exes at that point and there are some messy feelings mixed in there.
[game/psl info]: For Zenos: Full disclosure, I only started playing FFXIV at the beginning of last year, and my grasp on how the world fits together still needs some work. Some patience would be appreciated! As it stands, I was flirting with the idea of Sephiroth starting off as a hero of some sort before falling from grace, or maybe being a Garlean experiment himself. Zenos being brought in to the FFVII universe is equally excellent; there are definitely a few angles to shoot for, there. Off the top of my head, Zenos being a top secret Deepground experiment they're looking to merge with Shinryu much the way Vincent got merged with Chaos and Weiss with Omega. But I am open to all sorts of things.
For Zack: I'm full of ideas. Nibelheim fix-its are always great. Tbh, I'm really soft for instances where he, Zack, and Cloud (and/or Aerith!) all just run off together. Sneaking around while they're still in the army? Super cute. Or maybe they'd be open about it, idk. Who's gonna tell two Firsts that they can't date each other? NOBODY. Something a little darker a la timeline shenanigans post-Nibelheim? A+. AUs? Love 'em. I'm especially soft for the idea of Sephiroth escaping Shinra when he was younger, and either bumping into Zack (maybe he escaped all the way to Gongaga? idk) and staying with him, or maybe he ends up hiding out in the slums and Zack ends up joining the army anyway, and they eventually bump into each other that way. (waves hands) I'm open to pretty much anything.
For both: Just-- an additional note, I guess? That I do have journals for both Zenos and Zack if there happens to be a Sephiroth out there who's interested in giving either of these a whirl. However, I haven't voicetested Zenos in any capacity and I'm very nervous to do so lmao. And I'm definitely not as confident in my voice for Zack. I kind of end up leaning into his goofiness a lot more. But if you're willing to be patient with me, I'm more than willing to give it a shot! Alien Stage - Ivan/Sua
[who I play]: Sua
[wanted]: Ivan
[why]: I just want to play some 'recognition of the self (derogatory)' rebounds, man. In the canon timeline, Ivan and Sua are extremely dedicated to their respective love interests and it's both making them look at each other with recognition and keeping them at arm's length from each other. Looking in a mirror can be quite uncomfortable, after all. What I'm interested in is exploring some kind of AU that is the reverse of canon - a world in which for one reason or another, it's Ivan and Sua who are left standing on the stage while Mizi and Till are either absent or dead.
Basically, I want to throw them into an emotional melting pot together and do some character study based on it. Technically the actual ship aspect of this is optional, but I do enjoy it so if you want to go for that route, I'd be overjoyed.
[game/psl info]: We can hash out the details of the AU according to preference - or go a totally different route that canon-diverges earlier? Not interested in full AU outside of the Alien Stage setting though.

I also enjoy 'bundle of hope' characters giving a helping hand to the character at rock bottom, and then something blossoming through the hard road of climbing out of that hole
--For Naruto characters: bonding over how the system sucks and needs to be changed (but maybe not the way Kisame wanted to in canon, because let's be real, that sucked too) and feelings blossoming through working through trauma and/or changing the world. I am totally into AUs that would give Kisame a chance to meet characters from other villages earlier on and/or Kisame didn't succeed at dying AUs

Tributary is a check-in ac jamjar game based around mem-loss and eeking out a living in a (not so) abandoned village with limited resources. And the occasional attack by a hoard of monsters for spice. He's awkwardly bonding with other characters over (barely) remembered sucky pasts, and trying to teach other characters how to fight.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex | Motoko seeking Batou

[why]: I've been wanting to explore a slow burn sort of romance similar to the show but actually ending in more than sexual tension. Their dynamic in canon has always intrigued me and I want to go deeper into their relationship and it conflicts with the commander/subordinate dynamic required by their job and what consequences could or would be in that space. Doesn't have to have a positive end, but I want to at least deliver a little deeper.
[game/psl info]: PSL would be set with a case for them to solve, so could be both actively solving a mystery and exploring further tension during downtime. I do have a story/backdrop in mind, but I am also willing to work with partners to add to it or create something completely new so everybody can enjoy playing.
Dragon Age: Hawke seeking Varric and Cullen!

[why]: With Hawke/Varric WE WERE ROBBED! They're just so much fun together, and I want to explore more of that. Especially with a slowburn towards the romantic. And honestly I remember reading somewhere that they almost put in a post-script scene of the two of them talking where he was all "don't worry, I didn't tell her about us" and I like that. I like that a lot. And as for Hawke/Cullen… they would just be really INTERESTING together, I think?
[game/psl info]:PSL-land is where it's at for me, and I mostly want to play around with canon. And AU!canon. Specifically an Inquisitor!AU where Hawke ends up Inquisitor. I just think it would be extremely fun to explore that with Varric, and Cullen, since they're the two people she knows and has history with.
TRANSFORMERS seeking MEGATRON

[why]: I would looooooove to dig into a post-Predacons Rising arc, honestly. The lack of resolution between these two has eaten at me for a decade. The illustrious astolat wrote a stunning take on the concept called Coming Home so that's a great vibe example, though I have plenty of other ideas about how to go about it. But as mentioned above, I'm open to digging into the meat of other continuities as well, if TFP isn't your area of expertise/preferred flavor.
[game/psl info]: I'm in it for the "match my tragedy. become doomed by the narrative with me." of it all. Just exploring the many facets of their canon relationship (and dipping into the abundant well of romance) with the goal of avoiding everybody dies/nobody wins, since that's no fun at any party. It's been eons since I've used DW/IJ, and I honestly prefer short/longform plotting offline (gdocs, etc), but I'm willing to set up a curated DW/IJ if that's a sticking point. And please, 18+ only (character and writer/mun). Thanks and here's hoping this catches someone's eye!

[who I play]: Nuvia | OC
[wanted]: A type of character that is not afraid to be brutally honest with Nuvia, take command when needed, that is excellent in fighting and has high intelligence, and to quell Nuvia's bratty attitude whenever it pops up (this type of character tends to make her feel competitive).
[why]: These are my absolute favorite character dynamics -- the rough, tough, blunt, no-nonsense types with their complete opposite being the very kind, sweet, sheltered, curious about the world, try to be tough outwardly even though they are really afraid deep inside, bratty types that follow their own impossible morale compass. The tug and pull of these fire and water types are so good and I would really love the chance to play with someone this scenario to scratch the itch I have for it.
[game/psl info]: I have a couple of ideas!
One is an adventure through universal text messaging where Nuvia goes through her journey with a piece of alien technology that accidentally picks up someone else's phone/computer/technological signal where she asks for advice and helps throughout her journey in searching for her mother.
Two is Nuvia accidentally finding her way to your character's world. Think isekai without the death. Her powers change to fit in that world's rules/setting. While Nuvia ends up in that world, the Nevu are not far behind and searching for her, so expect some alien invasions to be included in this one.
Three is our characters end up in a school setting somehow and are trap. Think of Isekai Quartet where they end up in an empty school of just them. They have dorms/home to return to as well. They cannot fail or else bad stuff happens. Nuvia is illiterate and has never been to school before. The struggle will be about helping her get good enough grades, so the bad stuff doesn't affect your character too.
