It's pretty easy to say Root is just about anywhere doing anything at various canon points. She could possibly could learn something hinting at the existence of vampires on the internet (the dark web?!) and go to investigate. She could just stumble across her in a compromising (?) position. We could say they've had a couple brief encounters and Root is starting to figure stuff out, which would make her VERY intrigued, and she is quite a stalker. Or we could go full humorous meet cute except These Ladies aka maybe Claudia is draining someone Root wanted to get info from, could she please just maybe hold it for a few minutes while Root interrogates them??
