NOTE: I live in PST. On Saturdays I sometimes work day shifts or do things when I'm off, where I don't get home until a pretty reasonable time of 5-6 pm in the evening. If I don't get to the post before I go out, I will make sure I post it when I'm home. If it's a rare day I work evening shift, and don't have time to post it before my shift, the post may go up super late (in which case I don't mind people poking to make sure it's going up.)

I have a recurring entry on google calendar that sends me reminders to do the post. Guaranteeing a set day but a flexible time the post goes up will allow me to reliably post EMP basically forever, regardless of my RL situation. As such, I will no longer be answering "will the post go up?" questions unless it's past 10 PM EST. After that, I'll let people know what's up if I'm running late. (Or act on the reminder if I forgot).

Np! Sorry it's been later than usual sometimes, I don't have the same days off each week anymore at this current job and sometimes don't get out until late afternoon or even 12 am depending on the shift. I'm gonna still leave the "by 10 pm EST" time tho to be able to aim for it. I don't mind heads up after that point bc I can always let people know it's on its way or that it's a late work day and I'll get it after work.

I've thought long and hard about this and I'm going to say no. If something is so open it's advertising widely, it's pretty close to just being an open game, even if there's an extra step of needing to message mods for an invite or something.

I worry about the fudging of the lines between private/invite only games and public games. I have concerns that advertising would start to create a unclear dynamic around them that could risk blurring the lines of whether they're really private anymore.

I used to mod invite only and private games and I don't want to contribute to the possibility that open advertisement pushes people (or mods like the wg mods) to start seeing them as open season again for wank when a lot of people are trying to just lock things down a little to friends and people they know are chill.

I'll list them on dwrpmasterlist because some people might peruse the list for what's open to maybe ask their TLs about to see if a friend goes there and they can score an invite, but I feel like that doesn't push at boundaries between private/public as much as open ads do.

Hey EMP Mod, there's a situation that might be worth bringing to your attention about a player called firebenderjess @ plurk.

I'm assuming this is for a preban since unless I missed it I don't see those journals on the meme right now.

Tentatively, based on the other anon's description, the answer will probably be yes on adding her to my ban list. I can't do it for garden variety assholes because then I'd have to track the wank sins of a big chunk of the hobby but it sounds like this falls under the bigotry and crossing sexual boundary type things I do it for.

But I'm stricter on criteria for banning individual players than I am for mod teams so I need to make sure the pastebins back it up. I'm really busy this weekend and there's a lot in the pastebins to go through so give me a few days to read them and get back to you. I'll expedite it sooner if any of those journals show up on the current meme in case they need to be frozen and banned.

Okay, sorry for the delay. That was a lot to read through. I am going through with a preban. For the sake of my usual transparency, my reasoning:

There are a few 'isms in play here in past and present wanks I don't want users of the meme to risk getting exposed to. And wrt to the smut discussion a clear lack of understanding or ability to accept how complex and individual everyone's boundaries are. imo it was okay to do a plurk to try to get a sense of whether it's okay to ask or not, but I have concerns about OP trying to excessively pre-litigate stark universals to use to navigate what are ultimately individualized feelings in the community. The only true universal is that the only 100% safe way to avoid crossing boundaries is to not try to share tmi at all.

If they want to seek out rp partners or games that's their choice but I do have a choice over whether something I run facilitates it, and contributes to the risk of someone having their boundaries disrespected, so I'll be blocking.

If anyone has concerns about my reasoning please feel free to pm me or ask anon on the mod post here and we can discuss it further. I didn't want to carry on too much about it, only make sure people not familiar with the situation understand enough reasoning to know it's not a frivolous choice. (Also btw I did read everything and am basing this on Jess's own words.)

Please feel welcome in also letting me know if any new journals pop up. I'll block the ones already listed in the BS post. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, anon.
