PROBLEMS/SUGGESTIONS
If anyone crosses the line or there's some other issue or suggestion you want to leave, comment here.
NOTE: I live in PST. On Saturdays I sometimes work day shifts or do things when I'm off, where I don't get home until a pretty reasonable time of 5-6 pm in the evening. If I don't get to the post before I go out, I will make sure I post it when I'm home. If it's a rare day I work evening shift, and don't have time to post it before my shift, the post may go up super late (in which case I don't mind people poking to make sure it's going up.)
I have a recurring entry on google calendar that sends me reminders to do the post. Guaranteeing a set day but a flexible time the post goes up will allow me to reliably post EMP basically forever, regardless of my RL situation. As such, I will no longer be answering "will the post go up?" questions unless it's past 10 PM EST. After that, I'll let people know what's up if I'm running late. (Or act on the reminder if I forgot).

(Anonymous) 2024-06-13 11:34 am (UTC)(link)As it is, the current way of things puts a heavy emphasis on canons. But wouldn't it better if the interests and rp preferences were the emphasis? Finding someone who wants to play the same kind of stuff as you can be so much more exciting than finding a castmate who has zero interests in common.
This new PSL Offers thread could have [Desired Tropes] / [Desired Types of Scenarios] in the header, and then as usual people can list what characters they have on offer in the ad itself. I'm not suggesting it as a replacement for the current system, but as an alternative for people who do not particularly care to find castmates. It would also be a more friendly way for people who primarily play OCs or obscure canon to advertise for PSLs, as the current system isn't very friendly towards them.
I hope you'll consider the idea, and thank you for your time!

- It'd be murder on flatview, which people do use. I've gotten complaints about ads that are huge and messy on flatview. I also know some people access the meme by phone, because some players do a lot of their playing on the phone.
- Desired scenarios could potentially stretch to be something very large and kind of cluttered in the subject lines.
- I think it'd make people post duplicate ads because they want to search by canon in one thread and scenario in another.
The thing with the meme is I want to make it so it feels organized, not cluttered up, and easily readable on cell phone or flatview.
However, I do think incorporating something about scenario/tropes isn't a bad idea. For next meme I'll provide some optional html for the PSL thread like the ones provided for character ads, crosscanon etc. And include a section where people can list some info about scenarios and tropes.
I'd like to keep it optional, some people are looking just for castmates or crosscanon they're familiar with so I want them to be able to write what they want and keep it simple. But it can be there like the one for character ads so people that are looking for scenarios can use it as a format.
