i have not thought about HINABN for a hot minute but man was it briefly influential on my psyche. fade rift is a small, slow-paced game set in the dragon age (high fantasy-ish) universe, you don't need any canon familiarity to play.

characters arrive through a magical rift between worlds, into an ongoing war around them against a big bad evil guy. we're plot-heavy, but mostly in service of CR, and our AC is a quarterly summary of what your character's been up to. it's pretty easy to take stuff at your own pace. we have mod plots interspersed with smaller, player-run missions and events.

in-game, blood magic is a pretty big no-no, and our past vampires have had to reckon with that in different ways with the local population.
