well it's hard to list things off the top of my head bc there are really so many that come to mind that it's hard to pick just a few to list (especially with them being so varied!), but i do tend toward dystopian and sci-fi with hints of magic, things that can be potentially dark but aren't necessarily tied to it. i love period derivative universes (like steampunk or cyberpunk) and i also lend from video game universes quite often since worldbuilding is required for most of them to really have fleshed out settings. i personally try to avoid slice-of-life because it does get boring pretty quickly without something else happening and those work better as one offs.
scenario wise i'm pretty open also which is also not that helpful but i think first meetings or needing to recover/withdraw from conflicts (usually external to the actual chars or where they're collateral and not the instigators) tend to be good starting points for psls. if there's a notable situation that occurs that gives them room to react beyond just saying something and requires action of some sort, there's usually good breadth to remark on things outside of what the character is thinking/feeling. idk if that will draw anything to mind, but that's what i tend to focus on when trying to start a new psl.
alternatively, we can mess with some memes to see if it gets an idea going and build from that instead of abiding by the rules or expectations of the meme itself. i do that regularly enough anyway, but i do want to avoid the trap of posting on the meme directly cause then it feels tied to the meme specifically and not necessarily like a psl you own (if that makes sense).
