August EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / kink you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no fonts and other html that make ads super long, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canon in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ There is a "Pairings You Want to Play" section, where you can ask for castmates or crosscanon you'd like to ship with. Please format this with "[YOUR CANON] seeking [CASTMATE/OTHER CANON (if crosscanon)/SEE DESCRIPTION (if a general character type)]. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Pairings You Want to Play" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. Alongside castmates and crosscanon, you can choose to ask for OCs or general character types as well. Try not to get too wordy and please don't outline entire scenarios. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. They'll get one warning for copy-paste ads, and if they spam anymore copy-paste ads after the warning, they'll be banned from the meme. ➤ The meme is for fiction-based RP only (with the only exception being involvement of fictionalized historical figures or historical settings.) [why]: I'm super intrigued by their dynamic and Zelgius' suicidal loyalty and how he willingly takes part in a plan that will get both of them killed if it succeeds. Ugh, I just love them so much. There's so much to explore such as their pregame dynamic (like, they knew each other for a minimum of 20 years. Lots of room for missing scenes!) or a canon divergence where neither of them died.
[game/psl info]: I can be kinda slow and prefer to write with people who are chill with that and don't mind backtagging for a long time. Also, I prefer to start out with a shorter one-off thread to gauge our compatibility before diving into a meaty and elaborate slowburn.

> I love the dynamic of these two. They're both playful, bright, social and flirtatious. They're both very independent, but so very loyal. Zack is a yearner, and Reno has a secret clinginess if the way he's always close to Rude is any indication. Both have such a passionate drive that manifests uniquely in them, but also harmoniously. Zack can easily fool people with his sunny disposition and hide how much he's struggling, but Reno can see right through it and will MAKE time and space for Zack to decompress. Zack is so sincerely altruistic and earnest that he's able to disarm the defenses Reno keeps around his heart and pull out vulnerability, earnesty and a softness. And the way they challenge eachother based on their moralities, too. There's so much room for them to grow together and through as a unit. It's also a ship that allows Zack to step into other roles--he can still be a protector to Reno, but Reno can also step in that role and shoulder responsibility with Zack since he has the unique ability to do so as a Turk, so it gives us room to give Zack solid development in the ship.

Aerith revives Zack with Cloud during AC to give him a chance to enjoy life after working so hard to protect people. Etc. Literally give me all the threads we can think of. She's new and voicetesty and still needs more/different icons, plus I'm working my way through a re-watch so I'm still early on in season 1, but I want to fix things and explore the two of them slowburning towards something romantic. Explore what might have happened if they'd pursued something before she fell. She's new (because it took me a while to come up with a username) and DEEPLY voicetesty for me, but I love them and am here for all the shenanigans.

[why]: a few months ago, there was the briefest flare of interest on rpanons for samurai flamenco that never manifested into anything, and as samurai flamenco’s Number One Fan, the disappointment was great and the desire has not gone away. since i have some time now, i’d love to find someone to play something with!

[why]: With Hawke/Varric WE WERE ROBBED! They're just so much fun together, and I want to explore more of that. Especially with a slowburn towards the romantic. And honestly I remember reading somewhere that they almost put in a post-script scene of the two of them talking where he was all "don't worry, I didn't tell her about us" and I like that. I like that a lot. And as for Hawke/Cullen… they would just be really INTERESTING together, I think?
[game/psl info]:PSL-land is where it's at for me, and I mostly want to play around with canon. And AU!canon. Specifically an Inquisitor!AU where Hawke ends up Inquisitor. I just think it would be extremely fun to explore that with Varric, and Cullen, since they're the two people she knows and has history with. Also to talk vaguely around Veilguard spoilers, although I haven't played it yet I am aware Of Things, and am 1000% here for FIXING IT.

[Why]: Oh boy I just love their dynamic. All of it, tbh, from the violence and fighting of Cacophony to the sweetness of Concord! I love the time loop but I would also love to play around with breaking it. I love the idea of them still having to work at being good to/for each other, even when their relationship is vastly improved, and still struggling with their own personal issues even when things are noticeably better. But I'd be happy to chat and figure out what kind of dynamic we'd both enjoy and what we both want to do!
[Game/PSL Info]: Nothing established; I'm totally open to new things and, like I said, I'm happy to work with my RP partner to figure out how we both see the canon and how we both want to play around with it. As above, one idea I had is breaking the time loop and them having to figure out how to even function now that they're free, but I'd be very excited to hear your ideas too!

Tagging speed varies with RL occasionally drop-kicking me despite my efforts these days so there could be days between tags (esp larger introspective tags but lbr I love writing those out too much)
Up for exploring canon-compliant/canon-divergent scenarios whether they're moments of competition, serious conversation, training, or general shenanigans of getting under each other's skin. They work dangerous jobs that could mean life or death, they're competitive but got some breadcrumbs of common ground.

Offering Izuku, especially, is a chance for characters who have no understanding or capacity to give love to be loved and adored. No matter what it is they do. Leaving the chance for certain types of characters to come to an understanding, everything that they may have never had in life. He also is not a pushover, and isn't someone who will just stand around idly and let you freely bully him around. That said,
Bakugo on the other hand is an interesting dynamic as well, that fully takes the other person to be interested in him for him to have any interest at all(how i write him). Regardless of how the interest is shown. I think it'd be funny to throw a yandere at him. Please do it. The most chad dude with a yandere???? Please, it's funny in my head.

[why]: i love a forbidden romance, sneaking around typical idol haunts like filming for countdown shows or variety settings. i'm also interested in other supernatural shipping. right now, i headcanon zoey as primarily heterosexual-leaning, very boy-crazy. she likes them either buff as hell or looking like howl jenkins pendragon. i write her as pretty combative with the saja boys but also a little stupid when it comes to guys she likes. i'm still working out a solid voice!
zoey's balancing a lot of duality in her life - being american/ethnically korean and still being considered a foreigner in her industry + being an idol superstar by day and a hunter by night. would love to pair her with other characters dealing with double lives as well.

[why]: Look. I think there is a ton of potential here, between the whole "being the same person but also separate" thing, the idea Trina embodies not just his love, but his doubt and vacillation, which tells me she might have been the only person - perhaps that was capable of - questioning Miquella and treating him like an actual person and not an ideal. But also she loves him more than anything else in the world, and when she's dying all she is doing is trying to save him. I'm just saying, the potential is a lot of fun. Possibly toxic and codependent, but fun.

[game/psl info]: Clive's player and I have been playing these two together since the game came out (two years ago?!) and have always thought this dynamic would be so fun to play. Cid, the mentor? Cid, encouraging two emotionally stunted Dominants to not wait for a timeskip to make a move? Some jamjar setting? We've rarely gotten to play off a Cid so we'd love to explore the relationships there. We love IC drama and silliness, and tag regularly. Feel free to hit me up via DM if interested!

[why]: their 'exes still harboring feelings' dynamic captivates me, what can i say!! very interested in playing this ship out messily and writing them both sort of learning to be with each other - my take is that the vibe arthur gives off is that he very much does fancy him but seems to deliberately keep him at something of an arm's length instead of always engaging genuinely because whilst he likes eames and thinks highly of him (albeit while finding him very annoying at times) he doesn't necessarily want to allow him the closeness of the sort of authenticity he shares with cobb (again?).
my ideal dynamic would be like, 'tried it years ago and it didn't work out so now they are a tense sort of 'just friends' because arthur has decided that It Will Never Work and We Already Tried It, Remember? but really he's still harboring Big Feelings for this guy that he doesn't particularly want to have and eames is aware of it because eames knows him better than anyone else does!!' like effectively thinking he can sort of choose to opt out of their innate chemistry, and like, he can't.
