June EMP MEme

meme goes up on the last Saturday of every month

Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed.

ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no banners, no blinking text, no obnoxious tables, no sparklies, no pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad.

RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme.

This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be frozen and/or deleted.

Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL/1-on-1 ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join.

There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL/1-on-1 section, where you post the canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form.

ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above.

If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be screened.

Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be screened.

If there's trouble, tell me HERE, please!

Have you ever thought about what happens to the low-rarity characters you draw and immediately dispose of in mobile games? Do you think they resent their meaningless lot in life? What if they wanted to get even?

Gacha Hell is a panfandom jamjar memory loss game paying homage to mobile gacha games like Fate/Grand Order or Fire Emblem Heroes, where your memories, abilities, and possessions are all assigned rarities and locked behind a universal Gacha lottery, allowing characters to accidentally end up with parts of each other's identities in their possession. Ordinary characters can gain their friends' superpowers, people can wind up with the wrong person's tragic backstories, and regularly-cycling Event Worlds provide quests to measure how much of your dignity you're willing to sacrifice to hoard more precious Orbs.

Easy AC, but highly-active characters are rewarded with more Orbs, meaning more regains. RP through the night, shove your hard-earned Orbs into the Gacha Machine, and hold out hope for that ★★★★★ Regain!

OC friendly, opens July 1st. Characters apped in this first cycle will have boosted rates of getting ultra-rare regains in their first pull.

EL NYSA • Sci-fi/Dark Fantasty/Action • Opening July 15th!

[personal profile] natha 2017-06-25 03:15 am (UTC)(link)

olympia EL NYSA wyver
THE STORM IS COMING. It won't be just any storm; it's one that demolishes the fabrics of space and time, that antagonizes all known laws of physics. The storm is coming, and you'll see it before it hits. Three days of darkness engulf your world. A dark cloud looms over your planet, and there is no escape from its weight over your everyday life.

That is when they'll come to collect you. Perhaps in mythology, you'd have known them as the reapers. Here, their technical title is simply: Natha Orbiters.

The Natha Orbiters are a group of omnipotent celestial observers that have been collecting endangered species from various galaxies, across time and space. For millions of years, they have preserved life in all forms, gathering and introducing them to their small planet, El Nysa, which orbits around a red dwarf sun in a faraway galaxy. Life on their young El Nysa has sprung beautifully since the First Great Intervention, but their work continues as worlds continue to succumb to The Storm.

Thus, the Natha are giving you a chance at a new life within their planet. You couldn't possibly have a come at a better time. While the galaxies are bracing themselves for The Storm, another kind of squall is on the horizon of El Nysa. Civil unrest. War. Factions. The Natha want you, humanoid species of various origins, to migrate to their planet, integrate yourself, and help influence the people toward something better. Perhaps you will, perhaps you won't. Perhaps you just want to live. Maybe peacekeeping just isn't your cup of tea. Fortunately, the Natha aren't there to intervene. But, they are watching.

After all, they have bigger problems to take care of.

[community profile] elnysa is a panfandom, adult scifi/fantasy RPG that circles around an Armageddon of the worlds. Characters are introduced to a group of observers known as the Natha Orbiters, who not only intend to preserve life, but to integrate you to their planet of El Nysa, where they hope your diverse experiences will help their Nysan people. This is a build-your-own-adventure game with smut opt-ins, as the Nysan are sex-positive and will be encouraging its people to participate in various ways.

While the game allows for a lot of player freedom and relies on player action and consequences, there is an overarching plot that involves the tension between the ever dividing Nysan Empires, of the Nysan people and the Natha Orbiters whom are regarded as invisible gods, and outside hostile forces from the depths of space that wish to make El Nysa their own.

There is a dimension outside time and space where pieces of ancient lands have been mashed together into a new world, meant to serve as the personal playground of the demon Orochi where he could entertain himself by fighting against and conquering the most powerful warriors from human history. He nearly succeeded, but in the end, those humans won and destroyed him. Orochi's original incarnation is no more. However, defeating him didn't send the warriors all home to their own times as some expected. Instead, the rift between the mystical realm and the real world opened even wider, and the power of Orochi's spirit continued to rip up whole castles and towns by the roots, bring them to his dimension, and plop them down next to existing lands. Orochi's servants are still out there, and the lands are still overrun by demon armies. The mystic Taira Kiyomori has not been discouraged by his failure to resurrect Orochi, he continues to try in the hopes that if he can succeed, Orochi will return and destroy this entire dimension. On top of this, new territories are still being transplanted, and bringing with them strange and wonderful new inhabitants. There is no way home until someone can finally break the hold Orochi's spirit has on this patchwork dimension. The problem is, no one, not even the mystics themselves, can say whether doing so will safely send everyone back to their own times – or destroy them all in one final cataclysm.

The Unrivaled takes place in the world of Warriors Orochi, set in a time after the false end of WO3 in which the Hydra was defeated but it didn't cause the world to end. This game is meant to be a structured sandbox with guided plot, a place for adventure where players literally shape the world itself.

「It all began in the town of Qing Qing, China with news of the birth of a mysterious “luminescent” baby! Shortly thereafter, similar phenomena popped up all over the world. The trigger for these newfound powers was never determined, but as time progressed, what was once extraordinary became ordinary… and “Dreams” became reality!!

Of the Planet’s population, around 80% have developed unique abilities, or “Individualities”—called “quirks”! We have entered a new age—A society of superhumans! And in this world whirling in chaos, a certain profession that people used to aspire to only in daydreams has stepped into the light of day!」

SPELLBIND ▢ a sci-fi / fantasy adventure game ▢ apps open july 1st

[personal profile] spellbindmods 2017-06-25 10:12 am (UTC)(link)

No one asked your permission, no one told you it would happen. In fact, there won't be a recollection that you were even affected by all this anyway. The took you, they drugged you, they abandoned you. And you won't remember any of it.

At least, that's the first thought you have. You aren't where you were a second ago, as dumb as that sounds. There's a lot going through your head and your body -- new physical sensations, a throbbing in your temple, a lump in your throat. Things are missing, things are gained. There's not a lot you know about where you are, but after a few minutes -- maybe more than a few if you're the late blooming sort -- you've come to discover something very crucial:

There's magic within you.

Spellbind ([community profile] spellbinders) is a panfandom space adventure game that places characters into a traveling coven. Characters are given a power, their own magic, and are tasked with exploring the universe together -- exploring worlds, collecting items, completing tasks in order to get home. Teamwork impacts their survival and worlds can range from light and airy to dark and dangerous.
Adventure is waiting. It's calling you -- whether you like it or not.

Everything suddenly stopped making sense. Regardless of what you were doing just a moment ago, you're now lost, alone, confused, and everything around you is shifting before your eyes and under your feet. If you walk that way, you have a strange feeling you'll find yourself on more sturdy ground, but for some reason you feel as if your biggest priority should be ensuring you're not alone and showing people that you're here.

There are few answers waiting for you. No explanation. You were at home, and now you are here, and you just have to find some way to adapt.

Anamnesis is a sex RP game with survival, exploration and world-building elements, and themes of memory and illusion.

Drawn into an unpredictable and unstable environment that seems to be a mass of chaotic energy, characters find themselves with minimal resources, no explanation, no direction, and a world that simply does not understand how to function. The only guidance they have comes from strange, vague and out of place memories that give them a feeling of what can happen and what they need to do.

From these memories comes the knowledge that the only thing helping to fight the chaos is their own understanding of the world and of each other. To keep themselves from being pulled into the chaos and ceasing to exist, the world's unexpected new inhabitants need to form and maintain bonds with one another, to establish their existence in the hearts and minds of others. However, as characters become more established in the world, the world takes notice.

This world isn't just chaotic, it's malleable. As people become more real, so does their idea of how the world should be, gradually exerting their own influence on reality. Pulling from the minds of its residents, the chaos starts to shift and shape, adopting ideas from their beliefs and memories and mixing them into something new and a little familiar.

Jolting awake underwater, you pull yourself sputtering from a fountain. You remember your name, your life, all the little details that form a person. You probably remember exactly where you were in the moment before you woke here. But these aren’t your clothes, nothing around you is familiar, and the faces peering in at you are probably those of complete strangers.

The good news is, you’re not alone in this predicament. The town you’ve found yourself in is quaint, if a bit antiquated, with its tidy rows of bungalows and scenic views. You have shelter, warmth, and at least some resources.

The bad news is, you don’t have a way out, and the longer you’re here, the more you suspect that isn’t accidental.

In Sixth Iteration, you play the role of both the trapped character and the invisible Observers subjecting them to experimentation. Part of a long-term social observation scenario, characters in the game are subject to memory alteration, sudden special abilities, manufactured disasters and an endless well of mystery. Your character has to decide for themselves: Is it better to accept your fate or to fight for answers?

You've been kidnapped to an alien city run by two asshole gods who call themselves Sinne of the Dawn and Ciemra the Dark, among a bunch of other pretentious titles. The city is just The City, a tangled mess of old and new, familiar and strange, all jumbled together with neither rhyme nor reason governing its walled entrails. The City provides comfort and sweet vice, enticing delights to placate the inhabitants trapped within its walls — so long as they keep the gods appeased.

Outside The City, jungle chokes out the sunlight. Ruins hide among the lush, overgrown leaves — and other things, prowling and hungry for more than just a quick meal, waiting for you to leave the safety of The City's walls. And make no mistake: you will have to venture out of the walls' shadows sooner or later. The City's twin gods demand tribute from within the ruins, and dire consequences await anyone foolish enough to ignore their commands.

Complete enough of the gods' Objectives, make a name for yourself, and life in The City can be very, very good indeed. Fail, and you may just be swallowed whole.

LOST RAIDERS is an 18+ panfandom jamjar adventure game with an easy monthly AC used to shape the flow of the game. Flexible events and goals allow player actions to have major effects on the setting and tone of the game and provide for a wide range of IC experiences, ranging from fluffy slice of life, to explicit and kinky sex, to the most extreme of horror. Events will always be opt-in, but the game's core is based around dark, potentially disturbing themes and a kink-positive environment. The game aims to provide a non-judgmental arena in which to facilitate and explore dark experiences for characters; as long as everyone involved is OOCly comfortable, anything can go.

Fade Rift

[personal profile] faderifting 2017-06-25 04:16 am (UTC)(link)

FADE RIFT is a panfandom fantasy adventure game set in Thedas, the world of the Dragon Age series, where you'll encounter magic, zombies, bandits, spies, mysterious cheese wheels, ancient ruins filled with mystery and animated skeletons, elves, dwarves, ogres, and probably fewer dragons than you'd overall expect. The game centers on the Inquisition, an organization focused foremost on stopping the ascent of an ancient, corrupted being who aspires to godhood and may bring ruin to the rest of the world in pursuit of his goal. Along the wag, the organization—and your characters—will have the opportunity to shape the future of the world and people.

FADE RIFT does not follow the canon timeline of Dragon Age: Inquisition, and prior familiarity with the canon is not required to play. The game is open to native-born characters both canon and original, panfandom characters who are AU'd into the setting, or characters who arrive from other worlds ("rifters") learn about Thedas alongside their players. Characters from throughout the series as well as newcomers of all stripes are invited to explore and shape a vast, mysterious, magical landscape, and to join the effort to find a new order in a rapidly-changing world.

Applications and reserves for native characters are always open. Reserves for rifters are open now, and applications for rifters will open July 1. The current Test Drive Meme is here.

Welcome to the Omwi Fleet.

The Owmi, a spacefaring, nomadic civilization, have been traveling the stars for over a thousand years. That whole time, they have been searching for the remnants of their lost people, the Ibere. When their ancient society fractured long ago, the Owmi received a prophecy that said they would "find them". So far, the Owmi have been unsuccessful; but under the divine direction of their Orakalla, they press on searching the vast expanses between the stars. For belief is a powerful motivator.

However one day the unexpected happened. Stopping to refuel and gather supplies in a non-discript and uninhabited solar system, the Orakalla flared to life and declared, "They are coming," and then fell silent once again.

This caused quite the stir among the Owmi, for this surely meant they would at last be reunited with their lost people.

But, that is not what happened.

Strange people started to appear at the base of the Orakalla, strange people who were not Owmi or Ibere. Strange people who were not from this universe.

~ Game Basics ~

The Fleet is a pan-fandom game open to Canon, OC, and Canon AU characters (including CRAU) from most fandoms. It takes place in space where the setting is mostly a fleet of ships (a mix of military and civilian ships) periodically stopping at new locations. It incorporates jam-jar and slice-of-life elements, with a non-mandatory metaplot that will involve mystery, intrigue, and maybe even space battles. The game will also involve mod-driven plots and player-driven plots.

Meta powers are zeroed upon arrival, but there is a game mechanism for characters to regain their powers. Or, characters are welcome to explore various other power-gaining options.

We are smut-friendly, but not smut-centric.

The game environment is conducive to non-human characters (they are not forced to take human form), characters with unique needs, and child-aged characters.

Reserves and Applications are always open, with applications being processed every Saturday.

AC is one or two instances of play per months (5 - 10 comments minimum), with additional activity gaining characters in-game rewards.

MAISON DE PORTES - A Horror/Mystery Game

[personal profile] allthekeys 2017-06-25 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You start to doze, the tiredness creeping up on you unexpectedly. Perhaps you were walking home, or sitting in a car. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

The sudden exhaustion must be the source of the dysphoria. Clearly the sense of falling is just part of a dream.

Nevertheless, you wake in a bed. Your clothes have been changed, and your things are missing. The trunk at the bottom of the bed has your name engraved on the plate. A strange notebook warms to your touch and holds your name.

A place has been prepared for you.

About the Game:

Maison De Portes is a pan-fandom survival horror/mystery game. The potential for death and harm to come to your characters is almost guaranteed. The game is prose-only, with a very easy activity check. We have multiple story paths, with endings to be decided by the actions of the characters. The game is slow to mid-paced, fairly small, with lots of chances for characters to work together to solve the situation they find themselves in. We are very backtag friendly and very willing to work around schedules, as we feel that RP should be fun, not an additional job. Apps and reserves are currently open! We accept OCs and AUs as well as canon characters.

CHAOS Unraveled: 3rd Edition
The perennial archetypes of 'Good' and 'Evil' have devised a momentous contest to determine the dominant force in existence. A long-sought confrontation, both sides have enlisted a figurehead, a shepherd, to gather individuals to champion their cause. Those who come arrive to contend against each other in a plane of existence created expressly for the purpose of this hallowed conquest. Bells toll and drums beat in percussive unison, casting all eyes towards the growing conflux. This vast shell of a world, although quiet and derelict, is neither hollow nor fully abandoned. When only half the regulations are told to its guests, those remaining secrets ferment, waiting to punish the curious and triumph the brave.

The End of the Multiverse

Every canon, mythology, storyverse is a complex program. There are hundreds if not infinite iterations of each, running parallel to one another. Taken altogether, this multiverse is a supersystem called F.A.T.E.S., Front-end Alternacosmic Timeline Executive Server. This server preserves time and space and the innumerable minute differences between world iterations, as well as the beings in them.

And now, the multiverse is under attack.

The destructive vector is called D.E.S.T.I.N.Y., the Data Exception Scrubber Timeline Inquisition Network Yconivirus. The virus manifests itself in "canon" worlds a variety of ways, most commonly catastrophic natural disasters (earthquakes, electrical storms), bizarre monsters, or an invading army of beings in red armor.

Regardless of the details, the common factor is clear: the timelines are ending, derailed by massive apocalyptic events that are not canon.

Fortunately, F.A.T.E.S. will not go down without a fight. Your character has become part of that battle for survival.

Welcome to Xistentia.

Life in Xistentia

Xistentia is a casually-paced post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy panfandom game. Your characters arrive as refugees in a safe haven dimension with a forest and a beautiful green city. The defenses are powered by the intense emotional connections between the characters, whether negative or positive.

Gameplay focuses on intimate character development, science-fiction/fantasy elements, questions of reality, exploration (the local world, the multiverse), community-building, and action-adventure. Plots and events that dip into other genres (sex, horror, etc.) that are optional. Missions may be completed to turn back the tide of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. and repair the homeworlds.

We're running an inaugural plot for our public opening! The plot is loosely based on Spiderman: Homecoming and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We'll be kicking off with a Prequel in the Test Drive Meme, when your characters land in the middle of the Battle of New York. Fending off aliens, your characters ill gradually find their memories and bodies begin to change...

This plot will be spoiler-free for Spiderman: Homecoming.

You have left your home behind by accident, a science nearly indistinguishable from magic plucking you from your world and time as easily as opening a door. The Ingress is here, ever eternal, and those who greet you explain where you are and how this has come to be. There appears to be no deceit in their words, no fine print to your (hopefully) temporary stay — for some of them are the same as you in most ways. You are told of distant worlds with technologies as advanced as the planet you are on, and only by traversing the deepest reaches of these galaxies will returning home ever become a possibility.

Thisavrou is at your disposal, as are its unusual natives, and its diverse culture is a constant state of evolution. The decisions you have made and continue to make will affect what becomes of you and these planets. Destiny, after all, is no matter of chance, and it is not a thing to be waited for. It is a choice, a thing to be achieved.

[community profile] thisavrou is a panfandom game set in a universe that characters enter through the mysterious Ingress. To help Ingress technicians determine the frequency that will send them home, they are encouraged to visit and explore other worlds that may or may not welcome them.

Left of Midnight

[personal profile] medianox 2017-06-25 02:46 am (UTC)(link)

Banners unfurl, antiquated posters appear on lamp posts, telephone poles, mailboxes, carriage hitches, shop windows - all of them emblazoned with the bright faces of clowns, roaring tigers, mystical tarot - Come, come, they say! Left of Midnight Faire is on the way! Mesmerizing mysteries, they promise, and thrills beyond compare!

Excitement builds, and tents rise in the distance like paper cranes. Lights and flashes and the roar of beasts drive your anticipation, and by the time the wrought iron gates are open you are salivating with apprehension, with the need to see the promised sights, to experience the thrills and chills, the press of the crowd, the sparkling masks. Stepping onto the grounds feels as though you've crossed into another dimension, another time, where excitement abounds and energy hums in the air like electricity. Lights and sounds surround you, entice you toward the many paths that branch toward and away from the main thoroughfare. Will you visit the house of mirrors, of have your fortune told? Or perhaps sample the rich or strange delicacies, rest at the dark and dreary inn, peruse the wares, or perhaps head straight for the knot of commotion in the center -- the main tent, packed full with three rings of dark and exciting entertainment!

The choice is yours, but the longer you stay, the harder it seems to leave, the more these stained tents and angular stalls begin to feel like home. Or, perhaps, this has been home all along...?

Left of Midnight is a panfandom musebox/dressing room RP based around a traveling circus and carnival faire. Every week it appears in a new location, having been advertised several days beforehand, and no matter what world or location the faire ends up in, it always looks the same: surrounded by a deep forest, even if there are no trees in your area, and hung over by perpetual dark, never any brighter than twilight. Once it is open the faire does not close, though some stalls may close briefly for maintenance here and there, but different performers circle in to keep the excitement running wholesale around the clock. All are welcome here, and you can play your character either as a spectator or a participant or perhaps both, if the faire's pull is strong enough to keep them there permanently, for there is no leaving once you have become a part of the family— though strange disappearances are wont to happen on occasion. If your character is a performer, they may either be OU and drawn from their original background, or AUed as part of the faire from the beginning.

Anything goes here, let your imagination run wild, the dark sky is the limit.

welcome to our wicked little fascinations
right on time to join us for the ride
we've devised an antiquated machination
oddities await, so won't you kindly step inside?

(mod note: the DR went inactive for a few years, and i'm currently trying to see if there's interest in reviving it. accordingly, the roster is a bit out of date and some images are missing, but i'm working on that!)
