Have you considered Hancock bumming a ride with a dimension-hopping faerie carnival?

lostcarnival can range from slow to medium pace, but is definitely active, and does include plot every few locations the carnival drops by. It also includes picking up magical transformations of you, the player's, choice the longer a character is in the game, so mostly I think Hanock would make a hilarious weed ghoul changeling or something like that.
