October EMP Meme

ENABLEMEPLZ

meme goes up on the last Saturday of every month

FOR GAME ADS:

Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed.

ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no banners, no blinking text, no obnoxious tables, no sparklies, no pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad.

FOR GAME QUESTIONS:

RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme.

This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be frozen and/or deleted.

FOR CHARACTER ADS:

Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL/1-on-1 ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join.

There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL/1-on-1 section, where you post the canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form.

ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above.

If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either.

LOST CARNIVAL: A TRANSFORMATION CIRCUS GAME

[personal profile] ringleaders 2016-10-30 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
LOST CARNIVAL
You earned yourself a debt. There are a lot of ways to do it. Maybe you played a game of chance without paying, and then lost. Maybe you watched part of a show through the curtains of the Big Top without a ticket. Or maybe you’re one of the rare few to seek out the Ringmaster by choice, to see what this strange new world has to offer. Either way, you end up with a job with which to pay the carnival back, and a contract.

For a year and a day, you’ll travel with the carnival, given work to match your skills. You’ll see the multiverse and help to bring wonder to its various inhabitants. You’ll meet new people, discover new passions, and change in ways both physical and emotional. And after that... the Ringmaster vows to return you to the precise place and moment you left. If, of course, that is what you still want.

Sounds like a good deal, right? Well, either way, it doesn’t really matter what you think of it at the moment. The Ringmaster has decided to give this opportunity, and you had better make the best of it.

As you’ll soon learn, sometimes what goes on backstage is more complicated than it seems, and a carnival that can travel through worlds can also earn itself some powerful enemies.

- ✪ -
Lost Carnival is a panfandom game centered around the activities of a mysterious carnival that’s capable of travelling between dimensions, bringing a motley crew of indentured employees with it. Major themes include the mental and physical transformations that come with being exposed to the carnival’s faerie magic, as well as the dangers that come from meddling with other worlds.

The game is likely to run for a couple years, and is intended to have a flexible and free form meta plot that encourages contributions from players, and will balance carnival slice of life with more involved and dramatic plot arcs.

UTOPIQUE.

Utopique
▷ Somewhere, somewhen, you go through a doorway. It's one of many you pass through every day, and at first you think nothing of it, but when you pass through you feel a chill, and for a split second, your vision blurs. When it clears you find yourself in an immaculately detailed, beautifully decorated mansion. Whether it's the kitchen or the drawing room, the library or a bedroom, you're given only a few moments to take in the sight of patterned walls and brocade drapes, and the strange feeling of certain alterations to your body before a voice interrupts.

"Oh, another one."

The servant, in navy and grey uniform with shiny gold buttons, ushers you down halls adorned with portraits of men and women with the same animal ears and tails, eyes and wings, that the servant has and that you yourself seem to have suddenly obtained. You're left in a plush sitting room to await an explanation, with only the servant's cheerful apology to stew on.

"We're sorry for the trouble, really. The clerk will be around to get you settled soon.

Welcome to Arden Grove." ◁

---
▷ Utopique is a panfandom roleplaying game set in the fictional town of Arden Grove, in a fantasy pseudo-Victorian magical world. Incoming characters find themselves with "kemonomimi"-style animal features and are placed into groups called "alliances" based on their feature type. From there, they confront events once an OOC month and have the ability to develop their town and affect the direction of the world they're in at will.Join us for a player-focused experience based on working together with your friends in your own alliance and in others, combining different advantages to create an ideal plot and game atmosphere!

We are a slower-paced game that allows all kinds of play, but focuses on the lighthearted and SOL. We are friendly to OCs and allow characters to turn in above-requirement activity for rewards. While Utopique is not a sex game, players must be 18 to join. ◁

CITY OF HEX: AU/Memloss horror

[personal profile] modmachine 2016-10-30 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
City of Hex

The city of Hex is a city like any other. That is to say, nearly impossible to describe in the terms of any other city, besides the tall buildings and the overabundance of people making their homes there. A upper class and an underbelly, the outcasts and the in-crowd.

Hex isn't a good city, but for some reason, people still persist in calling it home. Maybe it's because none of them know there's anywhere else to go. Some of them came from other places, but that was long ago. Some of them were born here. The crime rate's a little higher these days, they say on the street, but it isn't anything to worry about. Just keep your chin down and you'll be fine.

They're wrong. Hex isn't a good city. There's things there, in the night, things that the daytime doesn't remember. Some nights, a woman in the outskirts wakes to the sounds of howls that aren't quite dogs, and clutches her child to her chest. Some nights, a young man in a suit - well-fitted, but at least ten years out of fashion - picks his way through a bar, buying some cute young thing a drink, planning how to best get something for himself later. Some nights, an old lot downtown goes up in flames, and the fire chief says to the rookie, "Third time this year, same lot. If you ask me, the place is cursed."

Hex isn't a good city. Something ticks in the heart of it, something dark and uncaring, and it calls all kinds of other darkness to it. That something pulls, like a funnel, like a spider in its web, sucking in anything it can reach. The city eats, and what it eats it takes from you; your memories, your powers, everything that makes you you, instead of just another face in the crowd.

Hex isn't a good city. And now you're here.

Hex is a small jamjar, based primarily on the New World of Darkness, with themes of repeating timelines and memory/power loss. Characters may be apped from their home canons, or AU'd into the setting with mod discussion and approval.

DRAGON CALLED

[personal profile] greatbeasts 2016-10-30 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Dragon Called
Will You Heed the Call?
Dragon Called is a panfandom Fantasy/Adventure game with heavy emphasis on exploration and character development. It is set in the lore and magic rich world of Osaaru.

Under the watchful eyes of the Great Beasts of Osaaru, your character will hatch, tame and raise a dragon with which they will share magical abilities and an empathic link. Outside the main setting of the city of Nuren, your character can explore a vast open world. They can fight or study magical creatures, develop their newfound magical abilities, take on quests and missions, and help rebuild the balance of magic throughout the land.

Welcome to Osaaru
The land of Osaaru is in dire need of magic. A war, centuries in its past, plunged the land into turmoil and imbalance. The war left Osaaru in disarray, with its creatures growing wilder and its humanoid races grew more cautious and distanced. The five Great Beasts who watch over the world and keep the balance of magic can hold the scales in place no longer. They need your help. It is for this purpose that Benra has resurrected you to be a Scion of the Great Beasts. With your help and the magic growing within you, Osaaru can begin to grow and thrive once more.

The city of Nuren is home to the last of the races who still have faith in the Great Beasts. They will be your allies, your guides, and your friends. But before you can learn more of this world, before you can discover this new land, you must answer the call within you. The call of the dragon who now shares your soul.

Deep within the heart of the mountainous city of Nuren lies an egg, waiting for you and pulling you toward it with a call that starts from the deepest parts of your mind to the tips of your furthest extremities.

Answer the call, and begin a journey like nothing your old world could have prepared you for.

Halcyon RPG

[personal profile] halcyonmods 2016-10-30 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
WELCOME TO THE CITY OF HALCYON

You wake up disoriented underneath the branches of a large tree, its leaves swaying softly in the wind as light from above shines through. You have no memory of how you got here.

Then you notice the stars beyond the tree and realize... the light isn't coming from above the branches. The tree itself is glowing softly with a warm, white light. Unfamiliar constellations blanket the sky with planetary rings stretching across the horizon. A white moon covered with glistening ice brightens the darkness of night, reflecting the rays of a yellow sun currently hidden from view. Beyond the moon rests a pale blue gas giant.

It seems impossible that such a place can exist, but here you are, almost certainly far from home.

Once you're on your feet, you get a better look at your surroundings. The tree is in the center of a large, spacious city on a gentle slope. At the top of the slope is a citadel with a spire of brilliant light coming up from it. The spire of light fans out high above, dimming the more it spreads away from the center, and once you study it more closely, you see that the light is creating an almost transparent forcefield over the city. A forest stretches out into the west and the north while snow-capped mountains stand in the east. A large waterfall can be seen from the mountains, and from it comes a river that leads into a large bay to the south. There is a small stream with crystal clear water flowing from the base of the tree that winds its way down to the bay. Wooden lamp-like posts rise up from the ground along the dirt roads of the city, hollow gnarls at the top filled with large glowing seeds that illuminate the night.

The city is beautiful, magnificent, and in its prime with no state of any decay or ruin, but there's one eerie problem. Besides you and the others from different worlds who have shown up alongside you, there's no one here. The city is completely devoid of any living being.

Welcome to the great city of Halcyon. If you want to get back to your home, you'll have to work together with the others to figure out what happened here - where did the population of a city so large disappear to... and why?

THE ATLAS

[personal profile] atlasmods 2016-10-30 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
THE ATLAS

It starts with darkness. Endless, peaceful. Then comes the beeping. Suddenly there's pressure all around, choking you; the need to breathe grabs hold and drags you from that calming dark and into the waking world: a metal prison filled with the hiss of rapidly-expelling gas, and a synthesized voice which reports,

...ALIBRATING. BEGINNING INITIALIZATION SEQUENCE.
SUIT PERFORMANCE AT: 5%...10%...20%
LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS ONLINE.

Air rushes to your lungs and the black spots fade from the edges of your vision. The front of your prison opens and as your eyes clear, you find yourself someplace different. Alien. Above you is a sky and stars you don't recognize. Before you, the surface of a planet of which you have no memory. The only help you can find comes in the form of a single holographic message from a screen on your wrist:

FIND THE ATLAS.

The Atlas is a dynamic (location-changing) pan-fandom and plot-heavy RP inspired by No Man's Sky & Warframe, set in the vast expanse of space. It focuses on survival and exploration, with characters waking up in stasis pods with no clue as to how they got there. They are left only a single message to start and guide them on their journey: Find The Atlas.

Characters must decide if they wish to seek the Atlas to discover who or what it truly is, or eke out a new life for themselves among the stars, encountering challenges both good and bad. They can encounter alien species offering aid and insight into the mythos of the galaxy, or perhaps into the mystery of why and how they came to be in this strange universe in the first place.

Players' actions will have a direct impact on the plot and will affect the direction of the game as a whole.

LETHEVALE - An AU Gothic Mystery

[personal profile] lethevale_mods 2016-10-30 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
LETHEVALE

Nestled in the forest, in the shadow of the Carpathian mountains and the mansion on the cliffs, is the little town of Lethevale - at first sight, a quaint place, if darkly suspicious of outsiders. It is to this town that you have come. Why? Perhaps you were hoping to find a job, or visit a relative. Perhaps you are running from something, or wandering without a purpose. Perhaps you just came off the road on the way to somewhere else. Either way, the town draws you in - and leaving may prove harder than you expected.

Whether you choose to investigate or to live in blissful ignorance, whether you wish to leave or are happy to stay, one thing is clear. Something very, very strange is going on in Lethevale. Something that spreads its roots much deeper than the town, deeper even than this world. And now, you’re a part of it.

Lethevale is a gothic horror mystery game with AU and amnesia elements, drawing heavily on classic horror tropes, with many areas to explore and secrets to discover. Come and join us, and unearth the past.
