November EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be screened and/or deleted. FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL/1-on-1 ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL/1-on-1 section, where you post the canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be screened. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. At this point the premise doesn't matter to me as much as the CR and character development opportunities do, and my only hard no is mandatory humanisation — K is an android and I'd like to keep him as such, but might make exceptions for monster transformations and the like. Totally fine with being a LCW and it doesn't matter if other robots/androids/AI are in game or not. I also have a CRAU version of K I could app, if that's relevant.
As far as character development goes, I'd most like the chance for him to explore what it means to be a person and ideally be able to develop his own sense of personhood, free will, autonomy, and all that good stuff. I'm also very interested in exploring his more "robotic" nature and obedience — perhaps with someone becoming his new handler during his journey to personhood. I can play him from any canon point including pre-canon. Found family is my jam and I'd love for K to make some close friends.
I generally tag daily and boomerang when time permits, though I'm in an EU timezone (but sometimes keep odd/late hours). A slower pace is fine too. SoL, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, survival, AU, it's all good. It's fine to PM me directly if you'd prefer to. I use Plurk and Discord.
A few game questions: Is it easy to jump into things and get involved in the gameplot and player plots as a new player? How easy or difficult is it for new characters to establish meaningful CR, assuming I'm willing to tag out and do the legwork? And if you're canon familiar, how well do you think K would fit into the game?
It's a long shot but I'm always very down to play with any castmates who might be out there, too!

But I'm still gonna gently ploink down Hugtopia as an option, because the idea of a K delights me. The basic premise is that the natives of Aellyn, in their attempts to stop throttling planet resources, turned themselves into robots. Unfortunately, their deities sort of thrived on physical contact and those new bodies weren't makin' it happen, so now the world is Exploding and only hand-holds and hugs can save the day. Or so they say. It's pretty SoL, as you might guess, but we've been stumbling into some moody lore and the like.
The idea of a replicant getting yoinked into a city of people-gone-robots because he is more qualified to hug people just really speaks to me on a spiritual level so I had to bust in here haha. (And also I just want to give him a hug via a small child. That's my real goal here. Give K a Hug 2020.)

Ngl that cracked me up it's so perfect and fairly in line with what I'd like to do with him, in terms of him discovering a purpose beyond what he was created for, feeling like he's a person, etc. Having him learn to navigate physical affection with people other than Joi could be interesting — the guy does need all the hugs. Though he might take a little while to warm up to the idea, I think, due to his inexperience with... well, kindness in general. I'm curiously poking around the info pages now and will keep the game in mind! I appreciate you taking the time to tell me about it. :>

I highly recommend having a look at In The Night. It's a relatively new game (just opened in July) that has a small player base, currently capped at 60 but going up to 70 next month. The premise is that all characters wake up in the abandoned town of Beacon after having died and they need to both survive in a world of complete darkness and figure out how to keep surviving when their predecessors haven't done so well. There's a good dose of horror mixed in with occasional fun elements (like the traveling market that arrives every other month) and plenty of mystery and investigation to sink your teeth into if that's your style. And if it's not, there are survival elements, explorations, and spooky things to keep you busy.
There's a wide range of characters who would provide a great variety of CR opportunities for K, and it's incredibly easy to establish that CR and get meaningful interactions. We also have players from a variety of timezones, including EU, and both slow and fast players. The biggest selling point for me personally, though? Everyone is so nice and welcoming OOC. I joined the game in September and immediately felt at home. There's a large group on Plurk and/or Discord, but we try to keep a lot of plotting to the OOC comm so no one misses out — our game Discord server is mostly used for OOC chatting and helps me personally feel more connected to everyone and the game at large even during times when I can't keep up with tags.
The mods are also absolutely incredible, very involved and approachable and not afraid to change game mechanics and such if things aren't working as they should. They're open to all sorts of player plots and take genuine delight in seeing what shenanigans their players get up to. (Spoiler: Half the time it involves destruction of property or going somewhere they really shouldn't.)
I honestly think K would be an awesome fit for the game. Because of some of the plots and the setting itself, there are lots of opportunities to explore a character's humanity, to put them in positions of making difficult choices, and discovering who they are now that their life is over but they still exist. I think it would be a great setting for you to explore those things with K and delve into free will and personhood. Sadly, we don't have any castmates for him, but he would remain an android if you apped him in.
Our latest TDM just went up on the 15th. Reserves will open on the 20th and applications on the 22nd. We currently only have maybe 3 new player spots available but the game cap is rising by 10 for the January application round. My timezone makes me doubtful that I'd be able to snag one of those coveted player slots before they're all filled, though; I imagine they go fast! But regardless, I'll keep the game in mind and will be checking it out in more detail!
