December EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. I guess the important question is, does Akiren end up working for Shido, and if so, why? Does he get to be the sad mama's boy, or does he have another reason and Akechi continues to be Tokyo's biggest mama's boy? 🤔

- Okay so first here's a big-ass explanation for my method of madness cause I got inspired by Persona 1. There's a character in P1 (I apologize if you do know P1, I'm just explaining in case you do not) called Reiji Kido is sort of prototype Akechi in the sense that his dad was a high-profile politician and his mother was his mistress. He has a very big scar on his forehead because his dad hit him with a knife (I think) when he was trying to defend his mother when they were young.
Unlike Akechi, his mom is alive, but he still has that "Akechi-ness" to him aka while his dad is dead, his set his sights on killing his brother. While he gets 'lucky' in that his brother is literally the antagonist in the game, it is made very clear that he would have tried to kill his brother even if he'd been a simple janitor or someone who won a pultzer peace prize. Thankfully he learns the ~~POWER OF FRIENDSHIP~~ and matures and by the end forgives his brother, so to speak (he ends up naming his baby boy after him cause p1 has epilogues for the characters).
- So basically an idea for Akechi would be that 1) his mom is still alive but 2) he does want Shido to pay for his crimes regardless because of their situation.
- To make him go to Shujin, maybe his mother saved enough money to send him there? It is known to be an expensive and well-known school despite the whole 'only school that took the protag in'. Maybe they have a rock climbing club we never heard of or something. Maybe he wanted to be in Track and Field before the whole Kamoshida happening. Akechi's mother can be one of Sakura's old customers and he takes him in like Protag.
- The main difference is that he doesn't get his powers until he meets Morgana in the dungeon with Ryuji and maybe that makes him realize during the different heists that eventually he can get revenge by changing Shido's heart?
- Maybe he makes it the PT's ultimate goal or something. Like the ultimate heist, not knowing how deep Shido is into the whole cognitive stuff.
- Meanwhile Akiren's stopping Shido could have happened two years ago instead of just one. And he was blackmailed into helping Shido instead of being just given a police dossier (That Akechi could find out about later or via social links) once Shido found out about his powers possibly during examination leading to his trial or something.
- So it would explain why he's mostly numb to it all because no one came to save him from this (including his own parents), and he's been mostly hidden behind his mask as a cool detective prince.
- Maybe Akechi could keep his power, but instead it invigorates his friends.
- Meanwhile Akiren could have something that makes a victim marionette whatever he forces them to do. Keeps it with Yaldy's theme of control too.
- It would make the fight in the boat really interesting because Akiren could basically say stuff like "He's your father! You of all people must want to kill him!" etc etc.
- Stuff happens! I'm not sure how to get Maruki in there but def needs to happen too (and god Akiren would be so paranoid about Akechi picking Maruki's dream world since he's probably got ptsd from being controlled by someone).
That's about what I can think of for now, but let me know what you think!

I love the idea of Akechi's mom still being alive -- he probably has that facet that Akiren has in game of juggling several part-time jobs, except his original intent was to make ends meet and try not to be a burden on her, instead of buying thief supplies haha. Sojiro takes him in, and Akechi tells him from the beginning that he's not expecting anything for free and will work in whatever capacity Sojiro needs around Leblanc. (Sojiro like jeez, lighten up, kid)
I could see him befriending Ryuji and Ann relatively early on just because they fit the mold of 'outcasts who don't really get along with their peers' -- Ryuji and Ann for their in-game reasons, Akechi due to his lack of money/accomplishments/being awful at talking to people his own age.
I think he'd see Kamoshida as the same kind of asshole that Shido is and try to figure out what he can do, but have that same helpless, "a kid like me can't do anything," attitude until he gets into the Metaverse, finds Mona, and picks up the idea of "deals" pretty quickly just because of course nothing is given freely, only naive kids think that life is fair. I like to think maybe he awakens Robin Hood with the idea of his justice/rebellion being 'put the powerful in their place by taking what they don't deserve.' Maybe a darker version of his prince suit to match the ~aesthetic~
I love love the idea of Call of Chaos being something more akin to like, a call to action, maybe the trade-off being that it boosts their stats and weakens his own? Which is why he doesn't use it constantly because it takes him time to trust that his
friendsteam really does have his back. The puppet theme of control is really cool, too, a more direct and controlled (lol) way of exhibiting that power.Akechi like, "yeah of course I want him dead, but I want him to suffer in ignominy more, you don't get to take that from me!!" etc etc.
I could see Shujin shuffling Akechi into therapy post-Kamoshida similarly to how they did it with the trio in-game. He's too independent to go just because the school said so, but after Ryuji and Ann go, he might be more willing to go just to make sure that Maruki's on the level. Or Maruki would seek him out anyway because he did see them all exit Kamoshida's Palace haha. I think Akechi's relationship with Maruki would be based more on debate than discussion, but still get him the information he needs to proceed forward with his research!

I like the idea of Akechi working so many part time jobs because of his mom aww (also what a perfect way to bond with Ryuji with shit dads and good moms).
I love darker prince outfits version and maybe if you want, you could get it more inspired from the 6th ranger that's usually in the sentai shows (that usually ends up being the anti/hero - the cool leader).
It would contrast nicely to Akechi's Call of Chaos. (maybe something like Web of Control) For example, the Train wouldn't derail, but have two of them smashing into each other, or the employees who are charged with leading people into the trains pushing people into over-filled trains, throwing people in the tracks, causing dangerous situations and the like.
He could have also outright made Wakaba tell Futaba that this was her fault before she was killed by a car accident, but Futaba later realizing that her mother never spoke to her that way and her mannerisms were all wrong (because Akiren was controlling her and this was his first victim, so he didn't spent time studying her, and had been doing this with a gun on his back due to Shido).
Considering his whole detective angle, I think changing his persona from Arsene to (Sherlock) Holmes might be fitting (he was a rebel as well), with the big reveal later on along with his 2nd persona that it's actually Moriarty. Would his 2nd persona still be Loki, or does Akechi keep Loki? I could see a few other Trickster gods befitting him like a version of Seth. I'm game with anything 👌
While Akira has quickly learned to be a people pleaser, unlike Akechi in the original game, he doesn't do it to earn the love of others, but to stay on top of the web of lies and betrayals that Shido has made him paranoid about. He doesn't trust anyone (probably not even himself if it got down to it), and his ultimate plan is that when Shido grabs power, he'll use the puppet powers on him at the right opportunity and have him kill himself on the air (or something equality horrible). Everything else is just collateral damage, watching Shido's shitty entourage betray and kill each other and being forced to have innocents mixed in there.
He's pretty much given up on humanity in general.
He's a people watcher, trying to learn more about them so that he can use it to his advantage. He also uses his powers to go into the metaverse and learn more about people's true desires, which has made him not only an efficient detective solving his own crimes, but also able to keep up the appearance of being a good detective since he can use the metaverse intel to be able to call out people in the real world with information they never told him.
If we want Akira to survive the ship, it might be possible since he's more a victim of circumstance than having been plotting for Shido's demise since he was a child, but I am 100% cool with him being killed off too.
In the Thieves, Akira could see a way to escape his own fate, so he might offer anon clues during the game hoping they'd 'get it' but not being able to do anything of much since Shido has eyes and ears everywhere, but also testing them, partly because of his own jealousy of them being able to be free, partly due to finding out that you can change a heart without killing a person. Also he is a dick. A jealous dick.
It could be interesting because the pancake mistake in this universe could be a deliberate clue he threw in, hoping that they'd figure it out later that he was a traitor.
They could still meet at the studio too.
I also think Akira would be a lot more terrified of Maruki's world than Akechi was. He'd want out of it as soon as possible, and if it means his death, so be it. He'd be utterly paranoid that Akechi would accept the offer and threaten to kill him if he did, since unlike Akechi who thought he was controlling the situation with Shido, Akira started out knowing very well that Shido was fully in charge of controlling him.

But yeah, I love that idea of his being a far more direct control instead of Akechi's manipulation of their baser emotions, I think that'll be a really neat angle! Especially wrt Futaba and Wakaba, and how it means for future victims he needs to really use his time to study them and figure out how they would speak, which ties into the way Akira can figure out what confidants like best for him to say.
Seth is a really good one for Akechi, but I'm honestly kind of partial to Loki haha. I like the idea of him awakening to Loki through a fusion accident or something similar that gets at a lot of his own rage that he still keeps repressed and tries not to show in front of the other Pthieves because he finally has friends, he doesn't want them to see this ugly side of him.
I think Akechi in this universe wouldn't exactly be like his third semester self, but definitely more direct than he tends to be as his prince persona. He still has to be the smartest person in the room and craves attention on his terms, but is more concerned about his appearance in front of the people he actually likes instead of The Entire Public. He's still driven to be the best and wants to be acknowledged, but more in a, "I don't have the money or the family support that you have but I'm still better than you, try to keep up," kind of way instead of a, "please don't abandon me, please love me," kind of way.
I'm good either way also! It might be interesting to have Akira survive and team up for the final Shido fight, especially since his powers meant he had way more control over the victims themselves, which could make an interesting moral debate for what, if any, ~consequences~ he should face. I think Akechi would firmly be of the opinion that Akira isn't entirely blameless, because to imply otherwise would be to rob Akira of his agency, but it's entirely up to Akira what he wants the form of his justice to take.
I love the idea of him leaving clues and Akechi desperately trying to figure out how to connect the dots for concrete proof to his identity to try to stop their eventual coming to a head, because if it's as early as pancakes being a deliberate clue, he's going to be aware of this game of cat-and-mouse they're playing and try to figure out how to "win" it.
If he does survive the engine room, maybe instead of his life, it's potential life in prison that Maruki is dangling over their heads? Not to mention the deaths of people who wouldn't have died without Akira's intervention. Because Akechi wouldn't want Shido magically back in his life like Madarame or Okumura, even if it's something that would objectively make his mother's life easier, it wouldn't even cross his mind at that point for Maruki to sincerely think that would do anything but piss him off. Maybe a, "I can make it so all your crimes never happened. It's made a lot of people in this world much happier, you know. This way you don't have to be separated from the only person who's ever challenged you in a meaningful way."
Considering how possessive Akechi is, I could see Akira being worried that keeping him out of prison might be enough to sway him, because if it's the question of, "someone has to take the fall for Shido's crimes," he'd be initially torn on it himself because going to prison is going to be hell on his mother after everything they'd done, but sending Akira to prison is almost certainly going to be a life sentence so. Wiggles hand, could be something.

Also that is my bad, I meant Seth for Akira, if Akechi was keeping Loki (my wording can be bad when I wrote paragraphs of AUs haha). Seth also works well for Akira since he was at first a noble god who protected the sun barge from being attacked, but after a RL war between lower and upper Egypt where being part of the losing side meant that he became vilified and was turned into an evil god, sort of echoing Akira's path.
I love everything so I'm just going to keep nodding my head, but I especially like this idea of a cat and mouse game for the both of them being aware of it.
I do like the idea of Akira having to face what happened, a sort of situation like in P4 with (SPOILERS). Also it's a bit of fun that inmates of Japan's death sentence also don't know when they will be killed (but fun I don't really mean fun) so with maybe the possibility of Akira being killed off at any moment might weigh Akechi down with Maruki. And sort of how P5R leaves off with "is he or is he not alive" at the end with the extra scene, Akira's could be "will he or will be not be sentenced to death for his crimes."

I haven't gotten too far into P4 yet, I'm currently playing P4G with a friend of mine but I've only just hit summer vacation. I really love this AU so far though, I'm so excited to play in it 👀
I especially like that idea of it being Akira in prison because if Akechi isn't on probation, there's less reason for it being him in prison instead -- which frees up the Pthieves to work on trying to get Akira out, maybe. Achieving the ending they want without relying on Maruki's power, but instead their own motivation and willpower (whether it works or not)
