oh that makes it all so funny, but it also makes a lot of sense. considering what the judges told dan heng about dan feng's "crimes", and everything else the preceptors (god's number #1 most unreliable narrators) say about him, an armed insurrection makes plenty more sense than "inciting riot" (which, considering what we know of his story and how things might have gone - because all the reliable narrators are dead or, well, jing yuan -, it makes little sense). the "armed" part especially has to do with the """""abominations of abundance""""" dan feng very allegedly created - or tbf if he did, it was wholly accidental anyways
the historical context is really interesting too, but we also know the preceptors absolutely tampered with dan feng's sentence and molting and just about everything else because they had... other plans for him, so. literally everything that went down during that time was definitely orchestrated by god's number #1 unreliable narrators and straight up awful people...
