January EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / kink you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no fonts and other html that make ads super long, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canon in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ There is a "Pairings You Want to Play" section, where you can ask for castmates or crosscanon you'd like to ship with. Please format this with "[YOUR CANON] seeking [CASTMATE/OTHER CANON (if crosscanon)/SEE DESCRIPTION (if a general character type)]. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Pairings You Want to Play" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. Alongside castmates and crosscanon, you can choose to ask for OCs or general character types as well. Try not to get too wordy and please don't outline entire scenarios. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. [game info]: The tl;dr of Lab is it's the 'make your character worse' game.
But in more detail, Lab Of Nature is a private horror game where your character is experimented upon for the benefit of your mystery benefactors. They awaken in a cell-like room, soon to be shared with a stranger, and must endure a slew of different horrors with their fellow prisoners. Between events, characters are allowed to roam their specific floor for in-person interactions, but communicate only with other floors through a public network. Events are every other month with game canon TDMs in between.
Characters in game are incentivized to make other characters suffer however they can to appease their captors, forming secret alliances and even getting proxies to kill for them when they don't room on the same floor. Some of the kind of events we've had so far have been a battle royale, a game of werewolf, and most recently, a real life game of hangman.

An old world filled with older legends and myths, so old that no one knows what is real or not anymore. But there is one myth, one tale that some may say was just a dream… but it is the one they must now all live in.
Ancient beasts and their people waged wars and ravaged the once bountiful lands until the ground split and the waters rushed in, flooding and drowning all who once ruled the now barren surface. All civilizations were lost beneath the unending tides until the angry waters calmed and became still. Only a small handful of land, people, and creatures were saved, protected by mythical leviathans in hopes to one day revive the world. But no one cared for such lofty goals, content to only continue their survival. They would live on their leviathans with only a few deciding to settle on the numerous islands scattered throughout the world, and as time went by two armada factions developed.
The Paladins were originally created to help enforce some sense of order in a chaotic time. But as they grow more organized, their interests and purpose grew as well. Not only were they a source of order and enforcement, but they were also the frontrunners in scholarly and academic work, research and excavation of any old ruins that surface, charting and surveying all new islands for new resources, and protect and restore any new artifacts or other discoveries made. They grew in prominence, that security allowing those to flourish and create a rich city on their leviathan, the whale Elah.
The Corsairs developed in response by those who did not fit the mold. While known for the criminals and miscreants and thus often called "pirates," others who were independent minded would join to "temper" that ruthless notoriety. Adventurers, treasure hunters, mercenaries—they, too, are considered pirates. They pursue the freedom to adventure and stake claim to new horizons. While Corsairs may also delve into fields of "research," their motives are usually more selfish and have less regard to preservation. Their leviathan, Nogard the bone dragon, aids in their endeavors to avoid the Paladins, moving from place to place.
And so the people lived—until one day, someone or something found an ancient artifact that opened dimensional rifts to other worlds, forcibly bringing these outsiders to Escordvi to now live amongst its people. These rifts also brought in strange lands and stranger creatures, things that the native people find disruptive and wish to stop.
Of course, there are also those who wish to use this power for themselves.
Rumor has it that there is a special treasure map that could help guide them to the artifact, but the pieces have been scattered all over. Thus a new "hunt" is on to find that artifact, lost somewhere in the Endless Ocean.

[game info]: Children of Bahamut is an invite-only game taking place in a D&D-inspired fantasy world. Characters are bonded with the soul of a dragon upon arrival, gradually becoming more draconic over the course of their stay. The pace is pretty relaxed and AC is check-in only. A new test drive meme just went up earlier this month!
Avan and Popp are into their fourth month in the game now and pretty comfortably settled into their weird time situation and the various things they're not telling each other, so obviously someone new from home to shake their status quo up would be delightful.

[who I play]: I have Akechi reserved, who I plan to app post-Royal (max Justice confidant ending). None of the extra headcanons I throw around in memes, tho.
[wanted]: Joker would be a lot of fun and (possibly) complete the Royal trio, but I also think that Maruki would be fun to explore their whole deal post-third sem, as well as other Phantom Thieves. I have a soft spot for Ryuji, Ann, and Yusuke interactions due to how there's a lot to explore with them being some of the more understanding of Akechi's situation, and the unresolved baggage with Futaba and Haru also has a lot of potential. I love Akechi's dynamic with both Niijima sisters, and Sae would especially be a delight, and I actually quite like Morgana.
Plus, Mona would get to turn into his cat bus form, perfect for a road trip setting.

[game info]: Etraya is a panfandom mission game, though with the kinds of missions that can range from mingling in an American suburban environment, to having teddy bears turn you obsessive over them unless they're destroyed (and you really don't want those teddy bears destroyed). December was free of missions, but the current TDM is a mission involving finding shards of a pearl throughout a library filled with magic and robes that will give your character quirky powers! Gorgug thinks he is a better wizard than all these old frumps.
AC is check-in with a reward system that allows people to recover items or even bring in buildings into the setting! Reserves are currently closed, with apps opened until January 17th. This is our current TDM, and it's still active! You can always send any toplevels my way to share with the gang!
The gang come from a range of canonpoints, with Riz and Aelwyn being from season 2 (+ Aelwyn coming in with Apocalypse How CRAU), and Fabian and Gorgug are from different points of season 3! The cast is happy to answer any questions and also to help with icons if necessary.

Gameplay focuses on character development and character stories, with survival / post-apocalyptic themes, and some supernatural / folk horror thrown in for good measure. Characters are de-powered, with chances to gain powers within the game setting. There is no network.
Characters find themselves transported from their home worlds and stranded in a wild, empty world of eternal winter thanks to strange geological/geomagnetic shifts which has effected nature and man alike. There's no escape. Only the Auroras can signal the comings and goings of this place, and they may be both a blessing and a curse to you. Create groups for survival, scavenge for supplies, learn the harsh ways of mother nature (now warped by the Aurora's power) and survive.
... and avoid the Darkwalker, at all costs."
Small, chill little survival game. There is permadeath so be aware of that. The map is slowly opening up and plot is being unraveled. Characters have been there around a year and half now and are establishing a society with a few hiccups. Lots of Mysteries to try and figure out, or just try to make friends and survive the cold.
Characters are de-powered but can gain new powers at some events.
The AC is super easy (5 comments a month). App cycle is bi-monthly, and we open for apps again in febuary!

Labyrinthum is a private, middle fantasy panfandom game based off of cult classic stories such as The Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, etc. with elements of slice of life, action/adventure and psychological horror. Characters are asked to live their lives out in a world between awake and asleep for unknown reasons, once ruled by a powerful sorcerer.
There recently was the death of a God, sending some things into chaos. So, there's that, too. Hisoka was brought in to a fourth wall event, where he was trying to help that part of the world, only to come back again and realise all their attempts were futile. So that's gonna be a ball.

I would personally love to have a Nana onboard, either from manga or anime canon! The game is set in realtime, but everyone is very backtag friendly! Lucy's at the point of her development where she and Nana could butt heads but eventually maybe come to a reconciliation? Or not! I'm open to anything.

[game info]: Duplicity is a long-running public panfandom sexgame in which characters arrive in the hypermodern dystopian island-city of Duplicity for the purpose of distant overlords called the LIES project studying their worst traits. They are given the designations of Dominant or submissive and told that they have 3 months to form a legally binding contract ensuring a partnership and cohabitation with a person of the opposite designation (otherwise, they go to jail); while the natives hate and distrust all player characters, submissives are second-class citizens who are expected to obey and cannot own property on their own, whereas Dominants have easier lives but are legally liable for the behavior of their submissive.
Characters have to make quota - having sex or engaging in a sexual act - 3 times a month, every month, but players are allowed to fade to black/handwave sexual encounters if they want to. Dominants are legally responsible for ensuring that the submissives under their 'care' are able to do that, but D/s contract partners don't have to have sex with each other. Dominant/submissive in the city also doesn't necessarily have to correlate with their actual sexual preferences.
Every month, different things happen in the city, making life a little harder for the LIERs (as player characters are known), enabling play of different kinks, changing elements of the setting, or giving characters encouragement to meet quota in different ways. The lore and worldbuilding of this game are super expansive and there's a lot to do even without events, and a huge number of player run establishments and events.

[game info]: Etraya is a panfandom roleplay game set in one of several "bubble cities" situated in the center of the multiverse. Player characters are informed that they are here to prove that their universe is worthy of being saved, though how they are meant to accomplish this isn't clear. Missions may include combating with other bubble cities, fighting with each other, or bonding with one another. One thing is clear: you are your world's only hope, whether you like it or not.
The plot will focus on characters 'proving' themselves through various missions meant to test their courage, strength of will, capability for love, compassion, desire, and other traits meant to judge whether their universe should be one of the few that will survive. Events will be a mixture of slice-of-life, adventure, horror, mystery, and other elements.
AC is check-in, app cycle is monthly, current TDM is live. App cycle is active, ends January 17th at 12PM PST.

[game info]: Duplicity is a sex game that revolves around kinks and character's reactions. You're either a Dominant or a Submissive (although there are events where it can change, so if you want to switch you designation, it will likely come up again at some point). There are quotas and contracts, but a/c can just be regular interactions from a variety of different sources (network post, open log, comments, tdm replies). There are monthly events that go on, plus regular interactions of trying to navigate the dynamics of the game. While a sex game, the ac proofs do not need to be.
New TDM is here, which can be used this month and next month for app door pass (if wanted). Apps are currently open for this time around until the 20th.

All characters are assigned a crime (the crimes can be as vague or as hilarious as you like), and are there for rehabilitation. Expiation is an environment meant to give characters the opportunity to analyze and reflect on their past actions in an effort to define and discover their own self-atonement. They may also perhaps seek forgiveness from others that they may have wronged, inadvertently or direct. It is not necessarily rehabilitation, but rather dissection of character motivation and evolution, based on individual dynamic and relationships with others.
An overarching storyline will encourage characters to determine the truth about why they’ve been brought to this world and will be impacted by character discoveries and actions taken during the bimonthly events.

PERSONA @ BOTTLECAP BAY

[game's current cast]: Akechi and Ren on reserve, with a friend currently testdriving Sumire
[who I play]: Akechi, in the form of a smol, round Rookidee.
[wanted]: For Persona 5, other Phantom Thieves for sure! Cha (Ren's player) would really love to see Morgana, Ann, and Ryuji in particular. As for me, I'd love to see Haru, Futaba, Makoto, and Sae, and Maruki would be really interesting since we're planning to bring the Royal Trio post-Royal.
I think Zenkichi, Sophia, Toshiro, and Erina would also be fun, though at this time, only some of us have familiarity with the spinoff games. (That being said, I would love, love, love a Guernica. She's so cool...)
But we love the other Persona games just as much as P5! In particular, Cha would love to see the other protagonists from the modern trilogy, and adding to that, I would adore a Naoto or Sho Minazuki because I think both have a ton of interesting CR potential with Akechi. Ken Amada would make me so, so happy too, due to the fun parallels the two justice boys share. I think the unicorn dream would be Reiji Kido, but I'm not sure anyone plays the guy. Though, tbh, we'd be delighted to see anyone from SEES or the Investigation Team in particular.
We love Persona in general, and I'm a fan of all the mainline games' characters and would personally enjoy a lot of the characters, including more obscure picks like Jun or Maki.
