January EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / kink you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no fonts and other html that make ads super long, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canon in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ There is a "Pairings You Want to Play" section, where you can ask for castmates or crosscanon you'd like to ship with. Please format this with "[YOUR CANON] seeking [CASTMATE/OTHER CANON (if crosscanon)/SEE DESCRIPTION (if a general character type)]. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Pairings You Want to Play" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. Alongside castmates and crosscanon, you can choose to ask for OCs or general character types as well. Try not to get too wordy and please don't outline entire scenarios. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. [why]: I'm gonna be real, I just am in the mood for Mafia era SKK in terms of the canon ship option and will play either of them (I am steadier with Chuuya but perfectly happy to do Dazai if you don't mind me test driving that out wildly). I have plenty of ideas for it but will not be rambling at length here since, well, I feel like this is a long shot. But hit me up if not!
Crosscanon wise (for Chuuya) I'd genuinely just like to pick up some people who might like to do longer term psls or who are interested in regularish Bakerstreet memes so I have people to tag out to! Above I listed out types he might click with but I'm genuinely pretty down to spin up whatever wild crosscanon thing sparks anyone's interest. Is that a thing that even occurs in this section, idk, let's find out.
How to Survive Camping | KATE seeking BEAU (or vice-versa)

[Why]: They, and I mean this in the best way I assure you, make me ill.
She hates him and is afraid of him, and she loves him like she loves the barn cat with the kinked tail or the plant her uncle gave her. She irritates him and a lot of things about being near her and interacting with her hurts him, and he'll miss her. She was willing to give her life for him and she will fight him to the actual death and the very thought of him dying scares and pains her. He has a claim on her life and wants to use her to become something more instead and is willing to die for just the chance that she will do as he hopes. They have stabbed each other and saved one another's lives. She knows people ship them online and she trolls the shippers and him about it; he trolls her too just for fun. He has made terrifying enemies because he chose her. She refilled his skull cup and basically soulbonded them together and he accepted that and tied his life to hers. She gave him a name and an identity. The people who read her stories love him because they see him through her eyes.
...Anyway. I just think these two are neat and deserve some slow burn fix-it about it.

Stuff set during canon that just pretends that Bad Stuff Isn't Coming; canon divergence stuff where the land doesn't start turning ancient, or it's a much slower process, or Kate doesn't have to die for something to ascend; canon divergence where instead of what happens in canon, Beau unexpectedly gets more human even as the worst year ramps up; post-canon stuff where someone gets Kate back somehow; jamjar stuff where the two of them find themselves Elsewhere upon the moment of their deaths...
I could potentially be open to full AUs, but it depends. There being stakes and danger and Beau still being inhuman would be preferred. (A Silent Hill AU or even a Home Safety Hotline AU could be a blast, though!)
As for games, I am looking with interest at Route 666 at the moment, but I'd be open to anything!
I am open to smut because, despite the fact that I do see Kate as aroace (and can easily imagine that Beau also has no interest on either axis), these two have the weirdest dynamic and I think they should get to have something super unusual for the both of them together.
(I am also willing to play Beau instead if anyone else out there plays Kate! I don't have a journal for him yet, though.)

Enemies to lovers that are still enemies, dubcon over noncon, the hatesex version of soulmates, stalking across universes. Role reversal: lock his ass up. Nina throwing him for a whole loop. Canon what-if's and full blown AU's (Handmaid's Tale, Mad Max, Fallout, Star Trek, off the top of my head).

I like that a lot. Plus with The Thing in Veilguard... WELL. And as for Hawke/Cullen… they would just be really INTERESTING together, I think?

[why]: listen. the push and pull dynamic between these two compels me, it's the realest saddest sweetest(?) kind of "can't live with you, can't live without you." there's such a complicated mix of feelings and history between them that you can really drop into any canon point and have so much to play with. add in a very problematic attraction and possibly even some capital F Feelings, and things just get that much more tense and complex and i love it.
they are also v funny.

And then for Dimitri, it really is because I want to look at some post game Azure Moon route with Claude sweeping in after the dust settles in Almyra. Inside Out 2 | Anxiety/Ennui

[why]: Okay, I know their dynamic in the movie is very... let's say subtle, but I really love what little we do see! I could love these two balancing each other out and helping each other, and also just. Pining. Flirting. Dealing with trouble together and falling head over heels. Being super into each other despite their major differences. They could be so fun.
[game/psl info]: For PSL stuff, I'd love a whole lot of things, but setting something either post-movie entirely or after the hockey skills camp, with these two (and everyone else, though it's not necessary to include other characters if you don't want to!) navigating being in Headquarters as a real part of the big team. Maybe Anxiety can encourage Ennui to get a little more involved, and/or Ennui can help calm Anxiety down after everything that happened?
For game stuff, I'm not into full AU, memory loss, or obligatory sex games, and I can be somewhat picky about transformation (whether it's "turned human" or "monster transformation"), but I'm open to various genres and tones otherwise. I am currently leaning in the direction of Victory Road or Escordvi, but if you're looking at other games, suggest 'em to me!

The Umbrella Academy | Patch/Diego, Delores/Five

[wanted]: Diego Hargreeves, Five Hargreeves
[why]: Eudora was done SO WRONG! And I would love to explore their relationship. And with Delores and Five, well, there's a whole host of exploration to happen when she's not a mannequin anymore.
[game/psl info]: An AU where Eudora doesn't die, either by not dying from the gunshot wound, or by waiting. Exploring how things change if she doesn't die. Does she end up going along with the Hargreeves on their time journey? Was she re-written into being alive at the end of season 3? Does an AU version of her show up in the Sparrow Academy world or the reset world that follows? Does the reset world!Eudora know Diego? How does all of that go? And when the world was re-written in season 3, did Delores get herself a human life? Is she just human somehow, in that handwavey TUA fuckery way? Or is this an alternate timeline where she was always human? They’re all possibilities and I’m here for mucking around with all of them as I figure her out and explore things.I think my favourite out of them is Delores getting re-written into being a living breathing person, though.
Telltale Batman/The Enemy Within | Batjokes or crossover Superbat
[who I play]: John Doe and Bruce Wayne, two bi disasters
[wanted]: a Bruce for Joker or a Clark for Bruce
[why]: This is basically my favorite Joker interpretation ever, and they're really gay in both routes. I want to explore that.
As for a Superbat crossover, at the end of Enemy Within, Bruce has been burned by both John Doe and Harvey Dent, and Selina is a whole thing. He's still early in his Batman career, but both guys he trusted and had romantic tension with let him down and turned evil and the girl, while she did care, was absolutely using him. I'd love to see the third time be the charm and for Superman to work past some of that painful ex betrayal and help him heal. This is a guy who needs hope real real bad, before he gets Worse.

For Batjokes: I'm interested in both a wholesome-ish continuation of the vigilante route and an extremely fucked up obsessive dark villain route thing, because both are equally gay.

I'd also be interested in including slight AU elements like soulmate AU, or timeline AUs, etc

Detroit: Become Human | RK900
[Where]: Meme, PSL. Open to testing out new games, but 900 probably won’t be appable for most.
[who I play]: RK900
[wanted]: 900/Hank, 900/Connor, 900/Gavin.
[why]: Wrote out the sort of dynamics I like for the above listed pairings as an example.
Hank: Pining for Connor and not being able to be with him for whatever reason (Connor isn’t interested, or Hank thinks he isn’t interested; or Hank not feeling like he deserves Connor). So RK900 becomes Hank’s replacement Connor goldfish. Maybe even a “project,” of sorts, with Hank wanting to get him to deviate, too.
Connor: Self-cest. Some sort of rivalry, maybe. 900 being annoyed with Connor for deviating — and maybe himself for eventually deviating, too. Maybe 900 has some sort of insecurity about not being the previous Connor, who seems to fit in with the world much more (he has friends! And a dog, sort of). But then Connor shows him that he’s special in his own way, aww.
Gavin: Maybe something similar with Connor, e.g. rivalry of some sort. Partners at the DPD, or something else if we wanted to explore other AUs, but that sort of basis: brought together for reasons beyond their control and made to work/live/etc together, much to their chagrin.
[game/psl info]: All of the pairings I listed are kind of antagonistic, at least to start, which I would enjoy a lot! I’m good with the relationships staying toxic or eventually getting better (or getting worse). Getting 900 to a point of deviation would be really interesting for me (what might push him to deviate?).
I would be voicetesting 900! I’m not super familiar with how he’s portrayed in fanon, but I’m open to whatever headcanons, if you might like to incorporate any (pre-deviation he might refer to himself as RK900/900/Connor, but he might choose a name once he deviates. Also nicknames are great! Nines, etc). I’m fine with exploring 900 coming to work for the DPD post-game, or any other AUs we might want. I was joking the other day about how I’d love to see a truck driver!Hank AU, so: truck driver Hank (or Gavin!) picks up 900 — why not! The world is our oyster. Human AUs are cool too.
Other self-indulgent stuff I like: jealousy/possessiveness, pining, initially one-sided feelings (or just assuming they’re one-sided), realizing and/or confessing feelings after an “I thought I was going to lose you” sort of intense moment. These could be from either character (or mutual!). Love to write my characters possessive and pining. I also just finished reading the Byzantine Generals comic, so would love to explore android body horror.
Marvel's What If...? | Red Guardian/Winter Soldier

[why]: Look. Anyone who's watched that "What If... the Red Guardian Stopped the Winter Soldier?" episode will get it. You get it, right? It lives rent free in my head. So much potential left to be untapped! They're enhanced, they're not very bright, they care about each other deeply.
[game/psl info]: I'm open for just about anything. Hurt/comfort, slice of life, date night... Set during the episode, set just after the Winter Soldier is taken back by HYDRA, maybe he's not taken back by HYDRA... Maybe we time skip twenty years and we're in Captain America: Winter Soldier's events now, or maybe there's multiverse shenanigans happening and he meets a different Bucky. The world is our burger- I mean oyster. The only thing I can't really write is smut, I'd prefer to fade to black for that.
