April EMP Meme

ENABLEMEPLZ

meme goes up on the last Saturday of every month

FOR GAME ADS:

Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed.

PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad.

FOR GAME QUESTIONS:

RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme.

This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content).

FOR CHARACTER ADS:

Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join.

There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form.

There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences.

Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR.

ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above.

If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game.

IN GENERAL:

Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened.

Important note: IP logging has turned on due to multiple instances past and present of problem players trying to return to the dwrp community via emp after being banned other places, so I'll be IP logging from now on, and will compare notes with the rpa and wg mods (as well as game mods) where appropriate if it seems like someone that has been mass banned. I will not pay attention to IPs otherwise. I don't care what people like playing or who's who. So please feel comfortable to keep doing your thing, anon or otherwise. The knowledge will only be used for really egregious problem cases.

ILL MET BY MOONLIGHT

Ill Met by Moonlight

Those unfortunate enough to find themselves wandering through the thorns are whisked away from their normal lives and captured by one of four powerful faeries, collectively known as the Gentry. Now trapped within the Hedge, a dangerous no man’s land that lies between reality and Faerie itself, they are expected to act as the Gentry's new servants. From cooking and cleaning to more dangerous jobs like slaying the hedge-beasts lurking around remains of their tattered realm, the fae of the castle are ever in need of this not-so-hired help, regardless of what that help’s own wishes may be. Of course, this enforced stay between the mortal and the immortal isn't without a few side-effects. The longer they remain in this strange world in-between, the more the magic of their masters and the Hedge itself twists them into something new...

But, hey, change isn’t always a bad thing, right?

[community profile] illmet is a small panfandom roleplaying game that includes elements of fantasy, body horror, and memory loss.

Forgotten Tales § a small fairy tale themed panfandom game

[personal profile] keeperoftales 2020-04-26 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
The Realm of Stories—

A place where the worlds and characters of stories and fairy tales exist to live their own life. Born from the breath, carvings, and ink of storytellers, these worlds have grown over the centuries, changing and adapting with each new take and spin. It didn't matter how the story was told, but that it was told at all, and the characters lived in celebration each time their tale was told anew.

But time has passed and tales once beloved and widespread are quickly becoming forgotten. As more books gather dust on the shelves and people no longer come together to listen of tall tales and epic adventures, these worlds begin to fade away. It's slow at first, almost unnoticeable, until the worlds begin to crumble and disappear into infinite darkness known as the Void. Hastening the Realm's destruction is a creature called "the Story Eater." It tears through each world, even those still thriving, consuming and destroying everything in its path until all that remains is left to the Void.

The chaos does not end here.

After gaining enough power, the Story Eater is able to extend its reach out into the worlds outside the Realm. Through the pages and media connecting the worlds, the Story Eater steals the souls of those who unknowingly come in contact. Some victims are left in a strange coma while others are used as puppets to continue causing havoc and mayhem. Minions known as "Erasers" are also sent through, taking forms of humans and monsters to spread the Story Eaters influence and wreak havoc. No world is safe from its rampage.

However, there is still time.

An entity known as "the Storyteller" uses their power to seek out anyone they can reach through any means not yet tainted by the Story Eater, and those who answer have the choice to help or to ignore. If they decide to help, their souls are transported through the pages into the Realm of Stories. Inheriting the essences of fallen storybook characters, they are transformed into entities known as Aspects and are tasked to help not only combat the Story Eater and its minions, but to restore the lost stories.

If they don't, then their own worlds may be consumed and lost.

Forgotten Tales is a panfandom, fairy tale fantasy themed, small, semi-public roleplaying game. It focuses on the concept of storybooks being their own worlds and characters inheriting the powers and characteristics of various storybook characters. Player and character action will be driving force behind the game and will be used to recreate stories. So basically, we're writing our own versions of stories.

VAULT 66: A FALLOUT GAME

Vault 66 is set in a world based on the Fallout video games series. Loosely speaking, an oddly 1950s sci-fi-esque version of the Earth an atomic war between the United States and China ended civilization as it was known. The only forms of shelter from the destruction were deep-underground constructions known as vaults (brought to you by the defense corporation Vault-tec). These vaults were spread across the United States and 'lucky' individuals were selected to shelter in them when the bombs dropped. However, little did many of these individuals know that Vault-tec had set up experimental scenarios in the majority of vaults to study human behavior- theoretically in order to best rebuild society when the outside world was finally safe to enter once more.

The results were mixed.

Vault 66 is one of these vaults. After untold years in stand-by mode, the vault has finally begun to reactivate. Pods filled with survivors are woken in rounds to repair the vault and venture to see what has become of the surrounding area. Some memory issues appear to have happened overtime, however, with people waking up from their pods believing the strangest things, like being from different worlds or times, or even different vaults. Characters apped into the game will be one of these newly awoken vault dwellers, attempting to make sense of this new world and each other.

Outside the vault, characters will find a post-apocalyptic America still recovering from the nuclear fallout that happened centuries before. In the wasteland outside the vault, characters will encounter other people, some friendly and some very much not, along with new species and reshaped landscape. How characters shape their little area of the world and how they discover how and why they are here is up to them.

The Rabbit Hole | A Steampunk Wonderland Smut Game

[personal profile] rabbitholemod 2020-04-26 01:51 am (UTC)(link)

“You’re late.”

That’s the last thing you hear before you fall asleep. And you certainly are falling—from bed, park bench, battlefield, or wherever else you’ve ended up in—and down into a dark abyss. But fret not, little dreamer, for the fall is a gentle one, leading you straight into a wondrous dreamland where your every desire will be fulfilled.

Welcome to Wonderland, where the barriers between dreams, desire, and madness are ever-shifting. Find a partner, enjoy your stay, and forget about waking up entirely. You’ll never be on time anyway.

The Rabbit Hole is a surreal panfandom fantasy smut game set in a raunchy steampunk version of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Quite the mouthful, isn’t it? In Wonderland, characters are encouraged to lose themselves in their desires and even discover new ones. Despite the game’s lighthearted nature, however, it will contain some dark/horror themes, because after all, for every dream, there is a nightmare.

SAVE OUR EARTH - an AU/mem-loss game set in a world almost like ours

[personal profile] ourearth 2020-04-26 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
On an Earth just like ours, everyday people who were hitherto thought to be perfectly ordinary humans start to learn that this is not their first life, and that they cannot continue living as they were.

Because their old lives are starting to awaken within them, step by step returning to them what was once theirs: Memories, physical features, personality traits, abilities, items, and more. They return for a reason: Because the Earth beneath their feet is a living, sentient cosmic entity, and she needs their help. That is why she rescued them when their timelines ended and let them be reincarnated on their crust. That is why she is calling them back to whom they once were now.

And as they grapple with the fall-out from all that is changing about them, each and every one of them has to ask themselves the same question:

Are they ready to SAVE OUR EARTH?

Save Our Earth is a plot-driven and player-choice dependent game. Its genre falls between mem-loss and AU: All characters start out as complete AU-versions of their characters when they enter the game, yet as time proceeds they receive more and more parts of their OU-versions: Memories, physical features, personality traits, abilities, items and whatever else applies. This happens because characters are reincarnated into our modern world after the timelines of their canons have ended.

AURORA EXPRESS

AURORA EXPRESS

Your character wakes up in a neat bedroom with a unique theme, in nondescript team-coloured underwear. They might be missing their memories, or their special abilities, or they may just feel a little queasy, but there's definitely a sense that something isn't quite right. Next to them is what seems to be a smartphone, which they know how to use even if they never had before, even if they don't know if they have before. On the screen is a simple message:
Welcome aboard the Aurora!

You have been selected by the Star Prince as a potential hero, tasked with saving the universe from Malice. As a passenger I, your Construct and Conductor, will attempt to provide you with quality lodgings and safety. In return, we ask that you join your fellows in making bonds and doing your utmost to bring joy back to the Stars.

Due to the process of restoring your body, you may find some things are missing. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to return them to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
After the message, new heroes are directed to an IC Guide explaining the basics of the situation, then are left to adjust on their own. In the closet are clothes that match the theme of the room, and outside the room is a hallway with other doors, and a staircase leading down to a matching living area. Here, you'll find your teammates -- and a universe darkened by evil, which can only be saved by your light.

A panfandom game with optional memory/power loss. Your character can also come in perfectly intact. We allow canon characters, PG/CRAU and normal AU characters, original characters, MMORPG/silent protag characters. Even fandom OCs or doubles with certain stipulations.

It's a fairly laid back game with lots of friendly people and regular 'mini-event' type things to get your character engaged, but all right to miss, and everyone has a team to help foster CR.
