August EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. The game Mal is in is SMK, which is a power nerf game that grants new powers based on a Disnified version of classic adventuring classes. It is set in a version of the Magic Kingdom that is an actual town. Disney knowledge outside of what is stated in ones canon is forbidden, though older versions of the tales Disney uses are fair game.
The other character is Clef, from the Rayearth manga. Issue 1 specifically. He is 749 years old in game, thanks to coming in as CRAU, and would love some calm and rational conversation and discussions on philosophy. The game is VT, and the premise is that the characters are all stuck on a train that brings them from place to place, from crisis to crisis, and the characters have to undertake missions in teams to solve whatever problem this new place is facing. The only powers nerfed are game breaking ones, so he would be in the company of a lot of other powerful people.
As for PSLs, I love PSLs (I will be slow to start as I am moving next week), but I would love to plot. I have... um... a lot of active journals, though most of my characters are from niche fandoms that are rarely recognized. Also while I need to read Tokyo Babylon (it is on my list) I have to say, it is awesome to see another Clamp fan around!

Most of my Disney knowledge is second hand, but I will certainly give it a look and poke the test drive perhaps. It would be interesting to see Iroh adjust to no longer being a fire bender.
Voidtracker I am familiar with and heard many wonderful things about. I have several friends on Plurk in the game. Perhaps the two of them could share a pot of tea in the diner car sometime?
And of course, I am game for PSL anytime that you are ready. I know that moving can be very hectic and stressful, and the great thing about PSL is that there is no need to rush them, they can begin and resume at any time.

For SMK, knowledge of Disney is not needed, and actually being a Disneyphile has made things harder for me, lol. It is a fun game though!
VT is tons of fun, and maybe we have friends in common, then! And I would say that Clef would love to share that tea, but perhaps in the new library instead? Not sure anyone will have much luck budging him once he discovers it.
As for PSLs, I can send you my work in progress list, if you like; though some that might work well with Iroh (Like Kaossandra) are not yet on there.

I have a number of PSL ideas, I'll toss a few here, and if you want more I'll toss more. PSL ideas are one thing I rarely lack. Thank goodness those aren't physical and in need of packing, lol.
Spoilers will be below for each canon the ideas are for. I'll start with older/more niche things and you can let me know if I should avoid spoilers for any canons going forward?

The one poking at me the most at the moment: a portal malfunctions and drops Kaoosandra into an odd place. You can decide where and when in the Avatar world she lands. Her goals would be getting back her powers, figuring out what to do about the situation back home, and... getting home. She looks about as evil as evil can be, but if offered would agree to stopping for tea and discussion....
Chronicles of Elantra
Kaylin Neya, fighting the end of the world once again calls upon Elemental Fire, but she is too spent to maintain control, so at the end of the battle, Fire brings her, injured, to one it can, in its own way, trust. So one time when Iroh is using his fire it would grow larger than intended, vaguely person shaped but huge, drop an injured woman, and fade....
Or
Elemental Fire springs to protect him from what would be a killing blow and brings him to her world... >.>

For that second part, I ask because I see you've got one (1) sometimes sober Belmont in that Everyone Else category, and we've got a Sypha player who's been Lone Canon Warrior-ing it up like a champ and would undoubtedly be happy to see
a himbosomeone else from Castlevania show up.Aaaand for the first part I'm not even gonna lie, I think a Kanan'd be hilarious. Because between my only-technically cross-canon Sith Lord and my very-definitely-cross-canon-even-if-the-Mouse-now-owns-them-both sassy superpowered teenager here, I can't help but cackle at all the potential ways to give that poor man a full head of gray hair. Even if in the case of the latter, sassy teenagers with special powers is something Kanan's arguably used to, so the webhead in particular would have to work a little harder at it. Granted, I'd also be fine with basically everyone else on that list (especially Iroh, #BestUncle), though as the game's not horror-based it probably wouldn't be someplace you'd wanna send Pip.
As for the game itself, it's usually at a fairly medium pace though it's dropped to be a bit slower now due to 2020 being what it is, and anyone who shows up basically gets to have their pick of up to three power sets. Even if they didn't actually have any superpowers or special abilities in their canon. And you're free to be exactly as serious or as crack-y as you like about it! As for just how cracky: a past character got a power called In Cogneetus which would let him become "unrecognizable" the moment he put on an oversized trenchcoat and a fedora (it didn't, but it forced anyone who saw him in such a fantastically unconvincing disguise to be overwhelmed by a sense of pity and actually pretend that the disguise was working).
The government would prefer everyone who gets powers choose to register and become a superhero, but there's no in-game compulsion to do that. Let your character become the world's most powerful couch potato if you want. Or, you know, be evil and do crimes and stuff. The world is your oyster!

I am very selfishly interested in seeing Iroh in particular. I only just got around to watching the series, and I think some of the character could really use his guidance if you were interested in bringing him.
The game is a continuation from a previous game, though knowledge isn't needed (I wasn't in it, and I manage just fine), where all our characters have been brought to this planet to help solve the mystery of the energy storms that drove away the original inhabitants, and help rebuild the city.
Everyone is very friendly and chill.
