FOR GAME ADS:

➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed.

➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no banners, no blinking text, no obnoxious tables, no sparklies, no pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad.

FOR GAME QUESTIONS:

➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme.

➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be frozen and/or deleted.

FOR CHARACTER ADS:

➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL/1-on-1 ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join.

➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL/1-on-1 section, where you post the canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form.

➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above.

➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either.

littlehades! It's mainly a slice of life game set in Hell! It's a pretty slow/medium paced game but it's full of a TON of lovely, beautiful people that I think would be very on board to help acclimate you to the world of DWRP!

Thank you for responding!!! I'm looking into littlehades now but I have to ask, is DWRP any different/similar to what LJRP was? I used to play on there, like 6 or something years ago, and if it's anything similar to that I may be able to figure things out. That's kind of how I found my way to this meme (and i'm dragging a tumblr-rper friend with me to join in on the fun), but I appreciate you leaving a considerate comment!

Also, I have no reference for "slow/medium", so do you mind expanding on what that means?

It is very similar! We mostly migrated over here to DW when LJ started implementing some features that made RP difficult over there. I don't think too much has changed from back in the day though, so you should be just fine!

It's kind of subjective to each player but to me, slow/medium is seeing maybe 2 new posts on the comms everyday and people tagging back at a speed that ranges from once a day to once every few days. Boomeranging tags still happens occasionally, though, but it's not the expected speed for everything all the time. I know that's what it was like in a lot of the ancient, enormous games back on LJ.

Boomerang tags were so fast, I'm glad they're not too common nowadays. It made me feel guilty for not being able to keep up speed.

Is it considered taboo to respond to a lot of posts in succession? Like, if three posts go up on one day, would it be considered rude to reply to both of those, or is it considered bad to post my own thing multiple days in a row? Basically what I'm worried about is being Too Active, or if that's not actually a thing.

YES! It definitely takes a bit of the pressure off!

I would say that tagging lots of other people's posts would be a GREAT thing, I wouldn't really see that as a taboo thing. Even if they all went up the same day. As for putting up your own entries, I'd say that it would be best to avoid spamming the comms. You could probably do a post on each the network and the logs community in one day but then it would be good etiquette to wait a few days or longer before making your own entries again.

Depending on the speed of the game you end up in, I'd say that you should wait until there's 3-5 posts in between yours before posting again.

I'm still really considering littlehades, just because I'm a sucker for canon communities and I love that you guys have a Harley Quinn, but I have one other question- does everyone use Plurk, and should I make one before I try signing up to anything?

Games as a whole have DEFINITELY slowed down compared to what they typically were on LJ. There's still a few larger, fast ones out there but I think most of them hover around a similar speed as Little Hades right now.

Plurk DEFINITELY helps a lot. You can manage without it but you'd just have to be very diligent about PM'ing people for plotting purposes and hitting them up on CR memes and whatnot. Plurk is where a lot of random brainstorming happens and its where we all kinda hang out and get to know each other beyond RP.

Same user as before, but- I thought Kiseki was a community based around CLAMP characters? Or has it changed since I've last heard about it, years and years ago?

To be honest, if Kiseki is the same one that I'm thinking of, I think it may have been the first RP community I played in like nine years ago! I'll give it a look (especially since I'm still stuck on some old CLAMP muses of mine at times), but no promises I won't be too embarrassed by recalling old memories to join..

omg really? It is the same, although now we are panfandom! There are still a lot of CLAMP based things and events, of course, but no the game is no longer CLAMP exclusive even though I'm sure everyone would love to have some more CLAMP muses.

entranceway for Lapis, since we have Pearl, Peridot, and Rose Quartz who I know would adore castmates. We're a slow to medium paced game based off Alice in Wonderland! There's an overarching modplot and you can submit player plots based on your character's world, and events are about 2 per month where the activity usually picks up. We've got a lot of people who this is their first DW game, and the environment is really friendly for newbies! (I also saw your other comment- I was also a "in LJRP for a long time and then took a few years off" sort of thing, and I came back to Entranceway not expecting it to work, and... that was, uh, last March, so. They're really good about people who've been away for a while, too!)

Test drive?? Is that open for even people who aren't inside the group, or do I need to do something first before I'm allowed to try it? I'm super interested in trying out Lapis to see if she works (especially if stirfry below me does it, as we're friends), but I want to make sure I/we won't be intruding somewhere we're not supposed to be!

A test drive is so people can feel out the setting of a game before applying! So you are totally welcome to pop in at your leisure. Members of the game can tag you (or people outside the game) and you can tag others just within the setting. If you decide to app, that's great! but you're under no obligation to :D

I'm giving the test drive a shot! I'll see how this goes, and thank you for giving me a shot in trying this out! My friend (the Morty-mun below me) says they're going to try giving it a shot too, and that they may even try filling out the application soon!

it's not a requirement, but a looot of people use it in the dwrp community for plotting and just talking about rp. Games also usually have plurk accounts to talk about event announcements, ac reminders, and asking mods stuff!

Another entranceway player chipping in to confirm that yes, the test drive is open to everyone! You can use it to voicetest and generally fool around as well as see how your characters work in the setting!

Tumblr RP has some similarities and differences compared to Dreamwidth RP, but if you've got any questions, just ask! We'd love to have you!
