January EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. Seeking:
- Mostly looking for shippy stuff across the board.
- Post canon/current canon is great but AUs are also loved like: Vampires, Modern, and Soulmate stuff
- Mostly looking for long term slow burn types of things but I can be a touch on the slow side from time to time. But now that the holidays are done I should be much more reliable.
-Darker/Angsty themes are also really great to dabble in with the ship stuff and my favorite.
Character Specific:
Miles Edgeworth - Phoenix, of course. Lang as well. And Franny for something a little more sad and messed up.
Alfred - All of Bloodborne is messed up but everyone should absolutely kiss under the moon and howl a little bit. Any and all NPCs or hunters are welcome.
Thanatos - Ares and Zags are very welcome and my favorite ships. I look forward to Hades 2 and the new siblings but do want to wait till they're out and know them before doing anything with them.
Xander - F!Corrin and Laslow, Lucina and Sakura are all my favorites for Xander. Ryoma but only for bad end routes. Camilla is also welcome. Nohr vampire AU is a great one to go with. But I can fit Xander into nearly any like fantasy setting and have had a lot of fun with it.
Hubert - Edelgard, always. Forever. Dimitri and Annie in an AU setting is really good. I don't do Ferdie unless it's the Three Hopes versions of them. And I do have a Hubert 3Hopes I don't have any icons yet. If that's what you'd like I'll start scrounging up some. I like the Bad Ends AU stuff for Black Eagles as much as the good. Post war, Slithering happenings, and monster Edel and Hubert escaping the capital. It's all excellent.
Barok van Zieks - Sherlock and Klint are the big ships here and ones I'd really love to explore. Though it's not shippy I do also play Iris Watson
Ienzo - I don't actually have a lot of ships for him but I want them. This will probably be better done with Cross Canon but Namine, Xamnas, the HB found family for already messed up dynamics becoming even more so.
Star Guardians I can play either side of this ship but I need to play them like my life depends on it. The Star Guardian stuff was so good and I've thought about it a normal amount. But I can also play their normal selves too.
Alexstrasza I think Alexstrasza deserves a consort that doesn't die. I also think she should smash Sabellian. I think this would be really good actually. But this is Mother dragon for fun dragon isles adventure. Or if you just want to smash a dragon/be smashed by dragon she is here for you.
This is a lot of canon ships but cross-canon is good too. So long as like we build it up and see how the character's mesh.

When I add Xander to other fantasy settings he comes from a warmongering kingdom and his father is a mad and vicious king. If we wanted to spin all those aspects we could have Xander's kingdom conquered and father slain (absolutely for the best) and the prize is Nohr's crown prince. Sort of to keep the kingdom under control in case Xander turns out to be like his father. Plus, Xander has many siblings that can have heirs in his stead.
So much courting, cause Xander is going to be unhappy about this. Kind of on the arranged marriage side and then forbidden intimacy cause fooling around before marriage. Tsk tsk. While also dealing with trying to retain and get back agency of his kingdom back or just eventually having to let it go and finding he's happy, happier here than he'd been at home in a long time. Lots of ways to spin how this goes.
And then your character's conflicts mixed in with all of this. If he's happy about any of this. If he's into it or gritting his teeth at first and they wind up liking each other. Any personal struggles on the home front.

Anyway.
I don't really know Xander enough to gauge on a character level... but I'm fairly sure Alric is pretty much only romantically and sexually attracted to women. That obviously doesn't in itself preclude awkward arrangements, which can be fun to thread, but since the Kaithenian political motivations for an arranged marriage would be to ensure heirs and to appease the resentment of an unfortunately fairly bigoted nobility. I'm not sure how to make that work from the Kaithenian side, although I'm always open to ideas and brainstorming!
Even if there isn't a great way to go a shippy/arranged route, though, if you're really much more up for playing Xander, something on the friendship side of shipping could work. I'm pondering the historical practice of peace being brokered on the collateral of a royal hostage (I feel like there's another more specific term but it's not in my brain at the moment) who's treated mainly as a guest more than a prisoner. It's not how Alric's father would want to operate, but if it's in line with Nohr tradition and his advisors insisted, I can see him reluctantly giving it a try; or he could have been brought to Kaitheny years before at the end of the previous, much nastier dynasty, if you wanted to put more of a childhood friends twist instead.

No, no. No worries. If you want Alexstrasza it shall be Alexstrasza.
Even though she'll be in a different fantasy scenario there are some things I'd like to keep from her canon. Being the Dragon Queen and the Aspect of Life due to the favor of a God
TitansAll her siblings and their tragedies both big and small.I think with her having lost all her consorts it could put dragons in a bit of a decline but she is someone willing to do what's best for her kind. I do thiiiink she's probably not going to be overly thrilled with being in an marriage arrangement with a human. She's had a lot of mates that she's loved and cherished very dearly and she's also had bad run ins with mortal kind in her lifetime. Being used, and so on. So she'll be weary but I think eventually be kind of charmed/amused by courting, especially human courting. There is also the trepidation of having a mortal consort which will be an inevitable loss because their lives are so short in comparison to her own.
But I like conflicts in regards to mortality vs immortality especially with partners. Either overcoming it or making the most of time spent together however short it is. (I am also assuming human/mortal but I did read through your profile but I could have missed it :x )
In the end, I think she'd eventually come around and not be so: "This is to repopulate the red dragon flight and that's that."

Keeping those things totally makes sense! Without getting too long winded about it, in Alric's setting, there was a global magical/supernatural conflict called the Sundering War about 2000 years before which, in addition to drastically weakening magic and leaving behind corruption, pushed dragons to the edge of extinction. They're still around, but pretty scarce, some lineages more than others, and a lot harbor bitterness over everything lost. I think e we can line that up with a Dragon Queen presiding over a court of dragons in decline, especially since the forces of corruption left over from the Sundering War still exist, and it makes sense with a shortage of suitable consorts as well.
Since the dynasty before Alric's father's ascension was super aggressive (and in its last few years, actively hostile toward everything from elves to dragons to the gods of other nations), that could further have weakened the dragons, and Alric's father trying to repair the previous dynasty's damage would be a good reason for trying to establish a closer alliance with a world superpower. Plenty of cause for wariness and complicated feelings as well! Definitely the mortality/immortality thing also makes sense (although it's a little unclear just how mortal Alric really is, but he mostly assumes he is).
So with all that said... maybe a sort of mix of arranged marriage and courtship, where the arrangements got started independently, and Alric makes a point of also courting her--first as a matter of diplomacy and respectfulness, and then increasingly taking a liking to her. They might also have briefly met, before, while he was on his Errantry, visiting other sovereigns to earn tokens of goodwill. Or even earlier, since his father served as a diplomat before his ascension.

So that all sounds good to me. I think the arranged marriage on bakerstreet is usually up if you wanted to use that, even if it's an older version of it. That seems as good a place as any.
