July EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no fonts and other html that make ads super long, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canon in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ There is a "Pairings You Want to Play" section, where you can ask for castmates or crosscanon you'd like to ship with. Please format this with "[YOUR CANON] seeking [CASTMATE/OTHER CANON (if crosscanon)/SEE DESCRIPTION (if a general character type)]. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Pairings You Want to Play" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. Alongside castmates and crosscanon, you can choose to ask for OCs or general character types as well. Try not to get too wordy and please don't outline entire scenarios. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. FFVII Compilation | Cloud seeking Sephiroth
[who I play]: Cloud Strife (preferred canon point anywhere post-Crisis Core)
[wanted]: Sephiroth (any canon point, including Ever Crisis)
[why]: One of my longtime favorite pairings! I’m late to the party for the Remake series, but I’m currently working my way through the story now. In the meantime, I’m itching to thread with Sephiroth and explore his dynamic with Cloud. Though my hope is to write a long-term storyline, I’m also okay with sticking to memes on Bakerstreet. I’m open to almost any canon point between them, and those canon points don’t necessarily need to sync up (whether due to time-travel shenanigans or a faux-jamjar setting). Happy to write against either sane or Jenova-influenced Sephiroth. That said—while I can definitely do dark/“dead dove” themes—I generally prefer if longer, dedicated storylines eventually work toward a middle ground (or even ambitiously pursue a “happily ever after” where possible). So, just to be explicit on that: dark content is totally fine, just in smaller or shorter doses.
[game/psl info]: I’ve always loved borrowing established DWRP game jamjar settings for PSLs! If there’s a game setting (past or present) you’d like to use, feel free to share! Using unique DWRP game mechanics can open up a ton of interesting possibilities for developing relationships. If we want to stick to the canon setting, however…
Ideas!
I’m a massive fan of time travel! You name it, I’m game to write it. Cloud being sent back in time, Sephiroth being sent back in time, either of them being sent forward in time…etcetera. Just to cover the basics, here are some standard time-travel plots we could do:These are just a few basic ideas, of course.Not interested in time travel? No problem! We can focus on canonverse timelines. And if we’re feeling spicy, we can throw in some juicy tropes. Soulmates, Hanahaki disease, omegaverse, maybe one of them is a ghost haunting the other…the sky’s the limit.
If you’re specifically interested in the FFVIIR storyline, let me know. Because I’m still working through those games, I don’t have any issue with watching Sephiroth and Cloud’s scenes from Remake and Rebirth on YouTube.

[wanted]: Nathan Drake/ Uncharted or anyone who doesn't mind a little unintentional chaos in their lives. But also I love throwing Lara into any universe. The Live Action One Piece universe has been a blast and a half.
[why]: Lara Croft and Nathan Drake has been a cross-canon ship idea on my bucket list for a good, long while. They both have a similar skill set, both are prone to walking into really rough situations and making their way out of it. Plus they could talk for hours about ancient history and not get bored.
For anyone in the one piece universe, should anyone think they'd like to throw their guy at a resourceful, tough as nails, take no hit, insanely smart girl who may or may not have cosmically bad luck and keeps getting herself into really dangerous situations, please let me know. I love hashing out backstories, playing meet-cutes or meet-chaos's as is her way.

[wanted]: Smarmy tragic male villains who actually have lots of feelings and are just bad at expressing them well
[why]: I'm just going to be real, I love the dynamic of Rosie with usually older toxic men who remind her too much of her ex-boyfriend/boss. I enjoy exploring the what she wants not necessarily being what she needs but also learning to love with someone just as fucked up as she is and the mess that comes with that.

RWBY | Ruby seeking Penny

[wanted]: Penny Polendina
[why]: Ruby and Penny remans my all time ship for RWBY, especially after volume 7-9 put even more focus on their relationship and then Ruby's grief. I generally play Ruby as vaguely aware that her feelings towards Penny might have been something besides friendship, but only having realised after it was far too late. Game wise I'm playing Ruby from V9 right now, right after the tea incident, and a Penny turning up would cause some wonderfully complicated emotions that I think it'd be fun to build from. Outside of games I'd be most interested in AUs where Penny didn't die or is somehow revived again in Vacuo.

Game of Thrones + Peaky Blinders
[who I play]: Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones (tv)
[wanted]: Tommy Shelby
[why]: So, I've had this itch for a while to have an AU where Tommy Shelby is AU'd into the world of GOT (being from a Northen house makes the most sense for him imo but I'm open to other suggestions!). He's loyal af to House Stark cuz Eddard goes around doing good, honorable things for people. Tommy is protective of Sansa from the day she's born (the age gap here can be as much as, he was a kid when she was born and considered a "man" by the time the show opens). He goes down to King's Landing with them because like Seven Hells is he staying behind. He also hates Joffery and doesn't trust the little shit. That's a requirement for this AU.
Like it's hard lolAnd ofc when things go to hell in a hand basket, he survives to stick around in King's Landing for Sansa.
There's a lot more details and ideas I have, but that's the basic gist of it all. And I would love, love for it to be a long, slow burn psl with intense feelings and harrowing situations and close calls and fake outs and emotional reunions and just desperate-possibly-co-dependent-love-in-a-fucked-up-world and Good Shit that eventually has a happy ending of some kind.
So please, grant me this wish. 🙏😭

[why]: See shameless addict note. ;) I will never get enough Aziraphale/Crowley, any canon or postcanon point, AUs also entirely welcome. And Crowley on Crowley has potential for him finding odd or unexpected ways to cope with the post season 2 situation, whether it's deliberately summoning a clone of himself for some distraction time or alternate dimension hijinks or who knows what. They're immortal and physics is optional. Happy to write happy stuff, wallowing in angst stuff, ridiculous borderline crack stuff, PWP smut stuff, AUs, lay it on me. I find it borderline impossible to ship Crowley outside of Aziraphale (though there have been a few exceptions with enough of the right CR, he's really a one-angel demon), so an advantage of another Crowley is not having to explain things.

Hurt/comfort after the ending of s1? Hurt/comfort after however things work out at the end of s3? Aziraphale in Heaven trying to stop this latest horror in s3 and he sees that Crowley's in trouble and he rushes to him?
(For the record, I think there's genuineness and manipulation in there in canon. I feel like Aziraphale genuinely thinks he can Do Something To Help if he goes back, but he was strongly manipulated into going back right *now*, instead of talking it through with Crowley and letting himself have a proper emotional reaction to Crowley's emotions. I think it's unlikely that the Metatron actually controlled his mind completely - though if you're interested I'm totally up for a thread where that DID happen lol.
I think both Crowley and Aziraphale have good points. Aziraphale needs to focus more on being us. Crowley needs to focus more on protecting humanity and Earth so there can BE an us. But the way it happened, I have sooo much sympathy for poor Crowley making his confession at THAT point.

I too agree that the Metatron is a brilliant manipulator and that no further shenanigans re coffee/timestop/bodyswitch/whatever theory is required to explain Aziraphale's choice to return to Heaven, honestly it makes perfect sense to me that he did. And yep, they're both right and both wrong and both were entirely 100% truthful in that scene. Honestly I feel as though any other option would lessen the impact of it. So yep, entirely with you there and have written the fanfics and tumblr essays to prove it don't get me started I'll go on enough for a whole herd of bluegreen deer. ;)

Okay, deep breaths.
Hmmm...I guess one that explores the complex dynamics that would come from, say, getting to open up (or being forced to open up / rely on) either his former host or the literal vessel of the pharaoh.
I mean: what would have happened if Yuugi learned of Kul Elna before he got attached to the pharaoh? What would have happened if Yuugi got the ring instead? What would have happened if, Gods forbid, he ended up in the actual past during mw and met tkb instead of shadow game shenanegans? I want to explore that slow burn, because I think if Yuugi got to see tkb's side first, he would have tried to *save* him.
Also there's the discussion of his past actions, growth, etcetc
And in terms of Ryou...
Where does TKB start and the RS end? How would Ryou have developed if he knew more about him rather than just being knocked out in the ring? I s TKB the Ring? How far does that go?
Ryou's fascination with the occult and the dead would play a role too.

I guess to clarify what I mean about "redemption", I don't mean "omg Yuugi / Ryou heals TKB and makes him a good person" because his whole thing is a lot more complicated?
Ryou and Yuugi are complicated people; Ryou has attachment issues and he has a lot of Ring Baggage.
Yuugi? He's a person so selfless that he sees no real anything in himself. And finding that strength and conviction without relying on someone else to do it for him is its own kind of redemption.
Also for being complicit in upholding the myth and divinity of the pharaoh even though...atrocities. Season 0.
Tl;dr: shit's complicated and I like exploring those complexities and differences in perspective / ethics / etc

- The idea of Yugi trying to "save" TKB because he's gotten to know him twins well with TKB potentially trying to do the reverse: he twigs this is (or could be, depending on timing) an important person to the Pharaoh so he goes all-in on trying to "steal" him. To change his opinion and turn him against Atem. So you have one guy yelling BECOME A BETTER PERSON and the other going I'MMA MAKE YOU WORSE H-HAHAHAH (this probably does not work as he intends, because Yugi) and feels get caught somewhere in the middle.
Ryou
- I'll be honest I haven't played much "TKB conscious in the Ring" despite reading lots of doujin to that effect, but the idea of him and Ryou just Stuck In A Box (Okay, A Circle) together has the potential for both drama and humor. Especially since Ryou didn't ask to be possessed and TKB knew (or thought he knew) exactly what he was getting into when he put on the Ring.

FFVII et al. || Cloud seeking Zack
[who I play]: Cloud Strife - Final Fantasy VII, R, or even Kingdom Hearts

[why]: Zack/Cloud has been a longtime favorite of mine. Getting through Rebirth reawakened my love for the series in a big way, and I've got a big itch that needs scratching with this ship. They were great in CC but what's always fascinated me is what can happen when Zack gets to interact with Cloud as he is in FF7 and beyond. Cloud's a pretty fascinating mess to work through as a player and Zack is a lodestone for Cloud (when he remembers him). I think there's a lot to play with in terms of what if scenarios (what if Zack lived? What if Nibelheim never happened? What if they met in Olympus? etc.) or running with some of the non-canon stuff we've gotten (maybe they can just hunt monsters in their bra armor a la Ever Crisis). I also enjoy soulmate AUs, canon mashups, time travel or dimension hopping shenanigans, and even supernatural stuff like vampires, angels, and demons. The sky's the limit, really.
