February EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / kink you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no fonts and other html that make ads super long, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canon in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ There is a "Pairings You Want to Play" section, where you can ask for castmates or crosscanon you'd like to ship with. Please format this with "[YOUR CANON] seeking [CASTMATE/OTHER CANON (if crosscanon)/SEE DESCRIPTION (if a general character type)]. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Pairings You Want to Play" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. Alongside castmates and crosscanon, you can choose to ask for OCs or general character types as well. Try not to get too wordy and please don't outline entire scenarios. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. [why]: With Hawke/Varric WE WERE ROBBED! They're just so much fun together, and I want to explore more of that. Especially with a slowburn towards the romantic. And honestly I remember reading somewhere that they almost put in a post-script scene of the two of them talking where he was all "don't worry, I didn't tell her about us" and I like that. I like that a lot. PLUS with Veilguard.... well let's fix that shit. (Maybe Hawke comes tumbling out of the Fade at just the right time, IDK.) And as for Hawke/Cullen… they would just be really INTERESTING together, I think?

I just think it would be extremely fun to explore that with Varric, and Cullen, since they're the two people she knows and has history with.

Enemies to lovers that are still enemies, dubcon over noncon, the hatesex version of soulmates, stalking across universes. Role reversal: lock his ass up. Nina throwing him for a whole loop. Canon what-if's and full blown AU's (Handmaid's Tale, Mad Max, Fallout, Star Trek, Severance, off the top of my head).

FF VII: Reno/Zack, Reno/Rufus

We can start with light memes and test threads if you want to get a feel for our chemistry as writers, or if the way we write our characters meshes well, but I very much prefer long-term plots that flesh out the world and dig deeper into characterization.
VII has a myriad of such well-written and complex characters and nuanced settings/dynamics. A lot of these minutiae get overlooked for the sake of the bigger picture, so I love getting to focus on these small things/moments with characters, and prefer character-building scenes that let us explore and expand on these things.
I love the dynamic of these Reno and Zack--very playful energy between both of them. Both of them are very independent with loyal streaks, and can be comfortable flirting. Zack brings a sincerity that Reno needs, while Reno provides an emotional stability Zack needs with SOLDIER crumbling around him. Looking for long-term where these two being a couple alters the timeline and playing through those story beats, including VII, AC, etc.
With Rufus, I'm looking more for things during the VII timeline and Advent Children. Considering everything Rufus instigated and how it effected the Turks, there's a lot of tension and issues for these two to work out, and I'd like something starting around late Crisis Core to early VII. I really want to enjoy threading out hard conversations and other heavy scenes.
Story-driven drama, hurt/comfort, shenanigans, soft/fluff, emotionally intense, text threads, mystery, horror, and a little melodrama to ~*spice*~ it all up every so often. All native elements to the VII story. I'm also a little goblin and enjoy a good A/B/O AU. Can do action threads but they're not my favorite. Fine with smut.
I'm comfortable having multiple threads and different points in the timeline/multiple AUs going at once and hopping around as the muse/mood strikes, or staying completely linear. I'm passingly familiar with some of the remake plot beats, but I can easily mix the two timelines if that's your cup of tea.
The Umbrella Academy | Patch/Diego, Delores/Five

[why]: Eudora was done SO WRONG! And I would love to explore their relationship. And with Delores and Five, well, there's a whole host of exploration to happen when she's not a mannequin anymore.
[game/psl info]: An AU where Eudora doesn't die, either by not dying from the gunshot wound, or by waiting. Exploring how things change if she doesn't die. Does she end up going along with the Hargreeves on their time journey? Was she re-written into being alive at the end of season 3? Does an AU version of her show up in the Sparrow Academy world or the reset world that follows? Does the reset world!Eudora know Diego? How does all of that go? And when the world was re-written in season 3, did Delores get herself a human life? Is she just human somehow, in that handwavey TUA fuckery way? Or is this an alternate timeline where she was always human? They’re all possibilities and I’m here for mucking around with all of them as I figure her out and explore things.I think my favourite out of them is Delores getting re-written into being a living breathing person, though.
Marvel's What If...? | Red Guardian/Winter Soldier

[why]: Look. Anyone who's watched that "What If... the Red Guardian Stopped the Winter Soldier?" episode will get it. You get it, right? It lives rent free in my head. So much potential left to be untapped! They're enhanced, they're not very bright, they care about each other deeply.
[game/psl info]: I'm open for just about anything. Hurt/comfort, slice of life, date night... Set during the episode, set just after the Winter Soldier is taken back by HYDRA, maybe he's not taken back by HYDRA... Maybe we time skip twenty years and we're in Captain America: Winter Soldier's events now, or maybe there's multiverse shenanigans happening and he meets a different Bucky. The world is our burger- I mean oyster. The only thing I can't really write is smut, I'd prefer to fade to black for that.

[why]: Okay, I know their dynamic in the movie is very... let's say subtle, but I really love what little we do see! I could love these two balancing each other out and helping each other, and also just. Pining. Flirting. Dealing with trouble together and falling head over heels. Being super into each other despite their major differences. They could be so fun.
[game/psl info]: For PSL stuff, I'd love a whole lot of things, but setting something either post-movie entirely or after the hockey skills camp, with these two (and everyone else, though it's not necessary to include other characters if you don't want to!) navigating being in Headquarters as a real part of the big team. Maybe Anxiety can encourage Ennui to get a little more involved, and/or Ennui can help calm Anxiety down after everything that happened?
For game stuff, I'm in Seasons with Anxiety here and that's definitely an invite-only game, but if we hit it off, that's very possible! For Ennui I'm considering Victory Road, but I could possibly be convinced elsewhere~

[why]: listen. the push and pull dynamic between these two compels me, it's the realest saddest sweetest(?) kind of "can't live with you, can't live without you." there's such a complicated mix of feelings and history between them that you can really drop into any canon point and have so much to play with. add in a very problematic attraction and possibly even some capital F Feelings, and things just get that much more tense and complex and i love it.
they are also v funny.

[why]: I just finished KCD2 and cannot stop thinking about their dynamic and the growth from two people who really hated each other into respectful allies, to friends, to best friends, to potential lovers. There's so much left unsaid and unwritten that I'd love to explore with these two idiots. I just think they're neat.
