September EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." There are a lot of mysteries behind the setting including why so many random people are being pulled in. [game info]: Ryslig is a horror game in which characters are taken to a mysterious peninsula by the Fog God who then starts turning them into human-eating monsters (which are chosen by the mods based either on randomization or personality traits). Hilarity ensues. Or maybe it's horrible things. It's both. Any non-human characters do have to be humanized first, but they start turning into monsters soon enough so that's fun anyway. Robotnik's a faerie, and basically a horrible bug man, and while he intends to get home by any means possible this faerie thing is useful and he intends to stay that way.

[game info]: Aef is a game where characters, upon arrival, have any of their native powers stripped from them. They arrive as either a Witch and must relearn a magic discipline through the Coven, or they arrive as a Monster, and transform gradually into one of the many varieties of Monsters available. For UT characters, this can be a lot of fun because they're made of magic, and end up basically feeling dead inside until they foster a Bond - a magical entwining of two souls that either enhances a Witch's magic, or feeds a Monster the residue of that magic that enhances their clarity of mind.
The overall goal in Aefenglom is to combat the Cwyld, a magic blight that can infect any living thing, and the Coven is sure that the Mirrorbound (what the characters apped are called, due to the nature of their arrival through mirrors) are the key. The game deals with darker elements and there are opportunities to do laid-back things, engage in monthly quests for Currency or Clout, or pursue plot-related developments. Aefenglom's apps are always open, but are accepted on a rolling queue with a game-wide cap of 160 characters.

Duplicity is a dark-themed smut game that deals with pulling out characters worst impulses and exploiting their flaws. There's no smut AC requirement, though.
It can seem pretty fast, especially around events, but I've found people working at all different paces here from boomerang tagging to one tag every couple of days. AC requirements are pretty lax with a max of 10 comments required. Events definitely run to the darker side of things, but there are almost always a lighter aspects. It's a lot of 'it is what you make of it,' whether that's more focused on horror or more focused on the sexy city side of things. Jon is from the end of Episode 160. Tim is from the beginning of S2, and Agnes and Gerry are from their deaths!

[game info]: Aefenglom is a fantasy magitech sort of game set in vaguely Victorian times (except with some anachronic features because Magic) where characters are brought through mirrors to help save the world from a magical infection called Cwyld. On arrival they become either a Witch (able to use the world's magic) or a Monster (transformed and stabilised by feeding on said magic) and in order to avoid overloading and strengthen their abilities, characters have to create magical Bonds with each other. There's a mix of SOL and action and there's a quest board each month with a wide variety of things to get up to!
Aef recently moved to rolling apps dependent on game cap - we're below cap again but there's a lot of apps in the queue already, so acceptances will take some time. However, there's an active TDM/game event happening at the moment if you want a chance to try things out!

[game info]: (game info) Forgotten Tales is a small, semi-public sandbox-ish game set in a place called the Realm of Stories. Characters take on "essences" of lost storybook characters and inherit various abilities and sometimes personality quirks. But it's not a memloss or AU, everyone retains their memories. It's only their abilities that get swapped out, but depending on the essence, you can make it so the skillset is similar to what the character is familiar with. And if it doesn't work out, can always change it! For example Rokurou is the Huntsman from Red Riding Hood and wields gunblades and has a thing against wolves; Eizen is Davey Jones and in addition to his usual "curse" he can turn into a
CthulhuKrakeneldritch horror-esque sea monster. It's pretty fun and loose so players can be really creative!The main goal for characters is to restore stories, though it really ends up writing our own versions. (Ever imagined A Christmas Carol and Sleepy Hollow crossed over? Headless Horseman turned out into a vengeful bride with the three Horsemen as her underlings, it got really interesting). It's a pseudo-campaign style where 2-3 months are focused on the designated fairy tale and then we have a 1-2 month break to do whatever and chill. Because of that our AC is very loose alternating between only needing one decent thread during the story campaign and check-in during breaks.
It is invite only for the most part, but registrations are currently open to public until the end of the month! Instead of formal applications, we use the Workshop to help players hash out ideas and the Test Drive serves as samples as well as help give players an idea how their character would work with the setting and mechanics. We're definitely a lot more relaxed about things and even if not Berseria or Zestiria, would happy to see anyone from the Tales of franchise!

An evil megacorporation has taken over the world and is using the characters against their will to help the progress of moving rig creating a Pipeline that's making a Livable Zone. Other dimensions fold into the world, making it a mission game where the worlds come to you. The group of PCs has to survive and hopefully eventually resist Jorgmund.
The game is invite-only but inviting from emp is fine. Wash here is starting off missing some of his current memories - leaving him at his bad guy stage, but he's going to gradually remember who he is.

the game allows for a lot of freedoms with your characters and what they get up to, and there are a lot of wonderful and engaging players who make it a nice place to play in. it moves at a medium-to-fast pace, but i'm constantly backtagging and you can really control your own levels of activity for as much or as little as you'd like to get involved in.

You find yourself standing on a wide station platform, in clothes not your own, holding a ticket with your name on it. Through the billowing steam, a train's whistle sounds.
Voidtreckers is a game where characters are forcibly recruited as Voidtreckers, inter-dimensional heroes needed on world-saving missions across multiple planets. On arrival, your character is assigned apparently randomly to one of four teams, each with their own role on-world. Nobody knows why this happens or how they're picked, but they're stuck together whether they like it or not.
But hey, we got a library! ...that we have to fill!
AC is two proofs of 5 comments each per month, with the option of receiving bonuses for additional AC challenges that will allow your character to earn more currency points. It's medium-sized, very backtag-friendly, AU and CRAU are allowed and encouraged.
While most powers aren't nerfed, characters don't always arrive with their weapons, and exterior summons (such as from Materia) cannot be easily gained due to the train being a butt about not selling 'weapons'. :(
Apps close on the 29th! If that's too soon for you, a new TDM goes up next month on the 15th, with reserves opening on the 19th and apps opening again on the 22nd.

[game info]: Duplicity is a panfandom, sex-oriented game although it doesn't require smut AC.
People are either Dominants or Submissives. Dominants get to live in the lap of luxury in the Up and are granted far more rights, opportunities, and freedoms. Every day is about survival for a Submissive. Submissives live in the poverty and crime-stricken Down, live in communal housing, and have little in the way of rights and even less when it comes to freedom.
Dominants and Submissives form contracts between them that grant Submissives more rights and opportunities and don't have to necessarily be sexual in nature.
Events usually involve some kind of aphrodisiac as well as elements of horror, SoL, dystopia, or even humor.
There's a good-sized number of teenage characters already present in the game and I can see the "13 Reasons Why" characters fitting into the game culture easily. My only requests are no Bryce Walker or Montgomery de la Cruz (the actors behind the characters are amazing, but they’re walking trigger warnings that no one wants to deal with) or Clay Jensen (too much of a Nice Guy in Seasons 1 and 2 and would be unplayable in the environment. but, Season 4 Clay?...let’s talk?). And while I’d love to see a Tyler Down, he would need to be handled with extreme caution, thanks to [triggers and spoiler warnings go here].
